Wandering Jinglethorpe Hi-Res & Backstory

As promised! The backstory for the Wandering Jinglethorpe:

All Frost Giants are violent and dangerous. They are territorial, hunt in small parties, and live in small family groups or clans. The Jinglethorpe Giants however, are a quite peculiar subspecies of these ancient denizens of the high mountains. While related to Frost giants, they are distinct from their larger kin in that they solitary and nomadic. They sleep during the day (particularly in summer) and wander alone on winter nights. This behavior has puzzled natural philosophers for centuries, for the Jinglethorpe giants possess poor night vision and do not hunt well in darkness. When they wander, they flatten trees, paddocks, walls, and even hovels. They do not seem intentionally malevolent, but their immense size and strength still make them highly dangerous.

The Jinglethorp Giants get their curious name from the tradition of northern townsfolk to tie bells to them while they sleep during the long summer days. With these bells on they can be heard from miles away and avoided, or encouraged to wander in other directions (saving many a village). Why the giants continue to wear the bells is a mystery. They have large, but nimble fingers, and can easily pull them off, but do not. Their hearing is normal for giants, yet the bells do not seem to bother them, and many Jinglethorpe grave sites have been found with piles of bells still strung about their bones, a testament to their attachment to them. Natural Science has no explanation for this.

In traditional legends they say that the first pair of Jinglethorpe giants lived as a happy couple in a tiny cave high up in the mountains. One day while gathering wood a terrible blizzard swept over them and they became separated. When the snow finally stopped and the sun came out the Giant looked for his mate, but couldn't find her. He returned to the cave, but she was not their either. And though he waited, she never returned. He fell into despair and sadness and eventually he fell asleep for a long while. When he awoke, children had tied bells to him to help him. Now on cold winter nights he wanders the mountains still searching for her, and hoping that she will hear the bells and come back to him.
