Being Human - Who Did it Better?

We had a Friday afternoon chat among ourselves and the subject of the series Being Human came up - both the orginal UK version and it's US re-imagining, with some of us liking the original more and others the US version.
So, I put it to you all, our residents, which version do you prefer? Vote below!

In terms of the story and characters, I give the edge to US. US knew when to end versus the UK version. Losing the OG cast hurt later seasons of the UK version. For the transformations, it's tough. Nora's change in the car is one of the best big budget female transformations ever imo. UK had more transformations and they showed off more of the various states of the werewolf. I know most people will just default to preferring pure practical effects, but the US version used their cgi pretty well (except for Erin, which was just egregious use of smearing lol). Seeing Nora's fangs and claws actually grow, and her muzzle extending out without cuts was great. I also gives major props to their sound design team in that transformation, the claws scraping on the car and her voice blending into the wolf's were incredible work. US had better context/situations for the transformations for me personally. Trapped in a car and changing into a werewolf is more exciting than just taking your clothes off in an empty room. Nudity is everywhere on the internet, so that alone isn't very interesting. A more exciting situation is if they start with their clothes on and rip out of them, which the US did far more frequently. That said, the UK had nicely drawn out transformations and great effects, so it's hard to choose.

2024-06-08 21:37:00 +0000 UTCI like the UK version than the us because in the UK version they showed the full transformation and the actors took their clothes off and they were nude especially in one of the episodes of the UK version of the series the female in the was completely new when she transformed into the werewolf so that's I wish us would not worry about being censored as far as nudity goes and it would have been a good series

2024-06-08 17:09:46 +0000 UTCI’ve never actually seen a full episode of either show, but I prefer the practical transformation effects in the UK version compared to the CGI TFs in the US one.
