The moment after his trigger pull seems like a flash back to their discussion of the plan as we saw it unfold. How they would hide in the shadow's body for X amount of time. After that, we got to the point in the story where he looped back and in prime position. They did the math. Maybe they got them pointers from the coaches on the Seahawks.
