Haikyu S2 Ep 22

GREAT episode!
Holy crap on the serve development and implementation!
haha I almost freaked out on Detlef and said some mean stuff in the mic, but he kept talking and gave some context 💀🤣

the GOAT Yamaguchi, the build up was satisfying

SKAOG

even though they lost the set, karasuno's gonna step into the third set with a way different mentality, with that new energy brought by seeing yamaguchi's hard work paying off. man i love this so much

sports anime fell off so hard post 2020 its so sad, its legit still being carried only by haikyuu😭 we need a new banger sports anime, blue lock is not it🥀

As someone whose sports anime is one of my favourite genres, I can say that sports anime, especially pre-2020 sports animes are in a league of their own, and Haikyuu is one of them. The quality of them also usually also depends on how iconic/popular the source material is (in Japan) and which studio worked on it. That said, almost every popular type of sports in existence has their own meta of iconic/influential animes. For example in the fighting sports anime genre, Hajime no Ippo (one of the most iconic boxing anime of all time after Ashita no Joe) is 25 years old, yet the animation holds up extremely well against modern anime and is sometimes even better. One of the biggest genres in sports anime in general is Baseball, and a lot of iconic shows such as Major and Ace of diamond still hold up too. Soccer is also a huge genre, with decades old iconic animes such as Captain Tsubasa, Giant Killing and the original Inazuma Eleven. And basketball with Slam Dunk or street (car) racing with Initial D, american football with Eyeshield 21, professional dancing with Ballroom e Youkoso and Dance dance danseur or ice skating with Yuri on Ice. So yea there is plenty of high quality content to watch for years 🤣

Can’t wait for the reaction to this OP!

That's very cool

The ball has no spin so it doesn't follow a straight path, it can just drop, keep going or just stay straight, really useful if you can aim it in the right spot but it can always just float all the way out if you put it too long and it doesn't drop. My fav to do in matches personally.

I love how every team member is given *their* moment in the spotlight. Season 3 is gonna be such a treat

guapaholic

Man this show is just peak, it genuinely makes me emotional watching these guys play their hearts out.

guapaholic

The ball physics with the sounds and anatomy is always on point in the first seasons. Heck you could learn a jump serve by watching Oikawa.

whoYoda

what you were saying about this being one of the better animated ones - man I kinda feel bad this is your first sports anime because it sets the bar so fucking high on so many levels, which future anime are gonna have to compete with

FullHeart

Haikyuu is definitely one of the better animated sports anime’s out there. Sports anime are notoriously difficult to animate in different instances. Blue Lock is probably one of if not the biggest sports anime/manga out and its animation was very bad in some spots and amazing in specific spots.

Me when Yamaguchi soloed the opposing team https://youtu.be/bB2XEjo5vHI?si=opG9Itel8YgVfQat

Lichrin69

"I'd forgive you" I love Hinata lol, this little guy just wants to play. He doesn't really care that much about winning and finishing the match. If anything, the only reason he wants to win is because it lets him play more matches in the future.

Lixien

And jumpfloats are essentially knuckleballs

Yamaguchi is the only one Detlef won’t be an ass to, but he can’t bring himself to give an earnest compliment 😂 only a why are yall surprised
