that guy who said "that's some brutal stuff" was shown before, he was the guy helping out the high school girl who turned bodies into "art pieces". she told him "you always leave before the good part starts" when she was about to do her thing

2025-05-17 07:18:12 +0000 UTCIn response to your comment about why is no one helping, these people have grown up and been raised in a society where everything is so closely monitored, that when someone starts getting beaten to death, if the scanners don't go off as if a crime is being committed it's as if the Sybil system is saying "nothing is wrong here." So even if they see "person getting beaten" there conditioning tells them, "well maybe this is an act, or staged, because the system says nothing is wrong, so even if I don't understand it must be fine." They have thrown away any agency or judgement and left it all in the hands of Sybil. The general populace has probably been metaphorically (or literally) sedated to the point where they don't have sudden or impulsive reactions to things either. People are also so concerned with their own Psycho-Pass that anyone who does think something is amiss, would likely avoid any kind of interaction with it because they'd be afraid of their own hue being corrupted from engaging with someone acting aggressively. It's supposed to be utopian, but of course the hidden dystopia is that concern for your Psycho-Pass makes you shun others for possible hue contamination. Imagine your hue gets clouded and your friends abandon you for fear of their own getting clouded too, causing you further stress and sending you in a negative spiral. Excuse my block of text I just like talking about this show. Oh and the guy saying "this is some brutal stuff" while filming it is Makishima's tech/hacker accomplice, not some random guy, if that was making the crowd reaction seem even weirder to you. Also cool detail I just noticed: at 18:24 in your video, when he points the dominator at Akane and the gun turns red saying the trigger is locked, you can see his eyes glow red too from his kind of in-eye HUD also turning red from what he is seeing. Nice touch.
