Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Ep 8

Several seriously studious students sat silently in a sunlit study space, scribbling stacks of scholarly sentences, solving slippery scientific scenarios, sipping steeped strawberry seltzer, and stubbornly staying steadfast through statistics, sociology, syntax, and semiotics, while simultaneously summarizing Shakespearean soliloquies and sketching subtle schematics of superconductors.

I agree that sub is the way to go for this show, but I disagree about it being because dubs are just always worse. The anime Black Lagoon has a dub that is superior to the sub, even the creator himself agreed with this sentiment. That show has multiple different nationalities, cultures, and settings to take into account with their voices. There’s also Cyberpunk Edgerunners, which has the background of being based on a game set in America and their own slang that doesn’t come through in sub. So it’s not impossible for a dub to surpass the original. It just depends on the specific characters and the story they’re trying to tell. Nationality, language, and setting all play a huge role in this. Ofc since most anime is obviously set in either Japan or some entirely fictional place, sub is typically the best choice, but it’s never always the best choice imo.

Maybe doing a 3 episode test of the dub would be a good way to see if you think it will be different enough (and quality enough) to watch both

I wouldn't watch the dub but that's just because only some aspects are good but the rest are terrible. Dubs never deliver the same energy and emotion that the creators intended with the characters, it makes the characters completely different in my opinion. One of the other dubs that gets a lot of praise is the Frieren dub, but people only like it because Frieren sounds like a "mommy" when she's not that type of character at all, maybe a few times when she tries to act all grown up. The people doing the dub are not japanese and they werent there when the series was being created/filmed most likely, I don't know how it worked with this anime but it almost always translates to a different character and emotional feel.
