Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Ep 7

It was quite literally the funniest episode of anime I have ever seen 😂😂😂😂
Please tell me there is other stuff like this. This is a 10/10

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Ep 7

Comments

A comedy anime I'd recommend would be Nichijou

Sprucefer

Isekai ojisan is another pretty good comedy anime that I think you will enjoy since you like konosuba so much.

Rain Wu

Oh that's before I was out here teaching in Seattle. I was at WSU in 99

DrumRollTony

Very cool! I graduated in 99. I don't remember the teacher but I could look it up.

Jesse Miller

Wild. I know several of the people that taught the drumline there

DrumRollTony

Some others that I agree with in the comments are Hinamatsuri and grand blue

kail santini

Honestly with how much anime you’ve consumed in the past few years, and seeing how you like this, You’d probably really enjoy Saiki K Tony!

kail santini

Newport High school by factoria

Jesse Miller

Bellevue HS??

DrumRollTony

I had Archery and golf in high school. That was the combination they chose for a semester class. I went to high school across the bridge from you in Bellevue. Great episode! I really enjoyed it!

Jesse Miller

yeah, the price of the tier feels worth it because of how much we’re getting each week but it’s understandable how Tony might not want to power through a show he’s enjoying this much lol. Tho it’s not like it’s super short.

QwertyInfinite

I like the current DAD format of more episodes per week but only one show in the tier, but that's just my 2 cents whatever we land on is fine with me.

Daily lives of high school boys would get my vote after Asobi Asobase. Great anime! 👍

Baka

Bruh, No game no life would weird Tony out for sure!

Baka

Yooo, seeing how Tony is enjoying Kaguya, I'm pretty sure he might like Asobi Asobase!

Baka

Wow they did a phenomenal job on the translation. *They came up with half an episode worth of original wiener jokes to substitute out the chinchin puns which are Japanese homophonic puns that’s hard to get if you don’t get the language. **Chinchin means the same “thing” in Japanese but can also be a dog call to have them put their paws out.

P_ateric

Hopefully the hole in the door is not fixed just so it becomes a memory piece

P_ateric

Seriously, split the cringe tier if thats what you want to do. This show is worth savouring. It is that good.

Aritome

Kaguya probably isn't the funniest anime, I have laughed harder elsewhere but its easily one of the most consistent comedy anime and in my opinion, the one with the most entertainment value. As a complete package when taking into consideration the sheer energy and creativity of the animation, soundtrack and character writing, I have yet to see one that compares.

Aritome

I’m pretty sure all the stuff with trying to get Shirogane to say wiener was a little different from the Japanese. In Japanese they’re saying the world chin chin which is like the equivalent of saying willy in English. Just like wiener chin chin is used as slang for many things so all the stuff Fujiwara asked Shirogane about was completely different in the Japanese (they don’t call them chin chin dogs over there after all). The translator came up with clever English equivalents that still get the joke across. Really gives you an appreciation for how hard translating is, especially when it comes to comedy series as there’s often lots of jokes based around word play and cultural knowledge. There’s more examples of this in Kaguya with varying levels of success in their translation.

AussieBoy

This is definitely top 5 romcom anime's of all time for me, and I'd say the only animes that made me laugh as much and with somewhat similar humor is Grand Blue, Asobi Asobase, Prison School and Gintama (Gintama I wouldn't recommend for the patreon as it's a slow build up at the beginning and very long). It's been amazing rewatching Kaguya with you as I'm reminded constantly of just how Goated it is.

I don´t know about "almost every" sentence lol, but it´s common to use formal expressions like that when talking to superiors/peers. In the case of "Kudasai", it would mostly be attached when asking/commanding someone to do something, e.g. when she tells Shirogane and the other guy to "reflect on that" (at 8:12). Similar situation with the word "Desu/Desuka/Desuga/Desune/...", which she really does use at the end of almost every sentence.

Ster_arch_13

I can't really think of a show that quite fits all of the stuff in kaguya you like together like it does, but Gintama is a great Comedy Anime. issue would probably be that it's quite long(367 ep), possibly a good fit for the jojos replacement given the length and episodic structure of the series, but thats quite far into the future given that you still have the entirety of part 5 and 6 ahead of you, part 7 Anime is most likely also goint to be announced on the 12th, so that's probably going to be another 50 episodes on top of that(if we calculate it by manga page count at least) Two other comedy anime I'm quite fond of are 1) the Monogatari Series, as it has really good and snappy dialogue as well as just phenomenal visual and auditory design, but I know that monogatari has been evaluated as not appropriate for the patreon since quite some time ago so that's not something that's going to land here The other comedy anime that I can think of right now would be no game no life, but I'm not sure if you want ecchi on here, but It's not that much more drastic compared to Konosuba so it should be fine.

Ishigami: Life is war

I would love to see Tony watch Saiki K

I am Gamer

Oh that's not a bad idea

DrumRollTony

YES! It's the most indecent show that would be on this patreon tho. Perhaps ever

ndcho

I can't think of a funnier anime. This anime (from what I have watched) is head and shoulders above all the competition, in terms of comedy. Funny story with the arrow through the door. We did the same thing but with my dad's barn door... he was furoius^^

Mike

Golden boy is pretty funny, it's from the 90s and it's been a while since I've seen it so idk if it holds up. It leans heavily into the "pervert main character" anime thing, but it's the best version of that kind of comedy I think. The recent Makine was a good one, it's way less madcap than kaguya tho, a little more drama, but still very funny

JoeyGuy7

Sorry if this is a dumb idea, but if you feel like you're watching the anime too fast and don't want it to be over so quick maybe after you finish it, you can re-watch it dubbed? The dub enhances the humor, with some jokes landing even funnier due to the voice actors' delivery rather than just reading subtitles.

Markyotamos

Never noticed before since it isn't reflected in the subs, but fujiwara says "kudasai" after almost every sentence. I know it means please, I don't know enough about japanese to know what it says about the character, is it like how a kid talks?

JoeyGuy7

Dick jokes are peak comedy. It transcends all cultural and language barriers XD

FTN Chicken

Gintama would be the only one I can recommend from the top of my head, though it’s a pretty long series. It’s hilarious. There was a particular moment during an episode that made me laugh for almost 10 minutes straight. Others can attest to how much of a loose cannon this anime is xD however, again, pretty long.

Sarai

My comedy recommendations would be Saiki K and Hinamatsuri. But my prediction is that Prison School is going to be the next Tier 3 anime if we're taking in consideration the cringe factor.

Lixien

Imo one anime than can keep up with Kaguya in terms of comedy is Prison School. Given how many others on the Patreon like it too, I reckon it will get voted in eventually. Asobi Asobase is a really good one too

Ster_arch_13

If you're digging this style of humor then some other recs off the top of my head would be Grand Blue, Asobi Asobase, Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, and Gintama. Gintama in particular is a bit harder to recommend though (especially for the Patreon) because it's super long, has a slow start, and contains huge amounts of parody humor based on famous anime/manga and Japanese culture in general that someone relatively new to all of that might not understand a lot of. It's one of the funniest and most absurd things I've ever watched once it hits its stride though. The other ones I listed would be good options though, all short and easy to get into (Grand Blue is also getting a second season this summer).

Tan11

so nice to rewatch this lol. great bow stories, the horse one was scary though. i'm glad you are enjoying this so much, this and konosuba are really high up there in terms of comedy for me
