Cowboy Bebop Ep 24

Wow, what a great way to write for Ed, Ein, and potentially Faye.
Legit bummed this anime is coming to an end. It has been an excellent experience.
Start thinking of what you want on the vote for a replacement. Thanks!

Cowboy Bebop Ep 24

Great pretender. Really fun animation and story. Samurai champloo is probably the best to come after this tho

space dandy! same space cowboy vibes as well as being from the same director as bebop. and you'll definitely chew on it's incredible music

dpilg

Now that I've seen the intro, I am shifting towards this.

Jet Man

Yesss Oddtaxi! Love that one

Hermit

Oooo~ Faye needs her own spinoff?? Sounds like FayeFaye is rubbing off on someone.

Uschi

Samurai champloo or megalobox would be a great follow up to keep the vibes going

Robert

If you want to watch something with the same serious tone and level of writing, then Neon Genesis Evangelion or Ghost in the Shell would be good choices. Those two along with Cowboy Bebop were the generational anime of the 90s are still somewhat popular today. There's the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie which is considered to be the most philosophical anime ever made and it's only about 90 minutes long. The Stand Alone Complex has two seasons and is recommended by the community. There's a new Ghost in the Shell series coming in 2026 which is being made by the same studio that made DanDaDan and I believe is in collaboration with Production I.G, so it might be a good time to dive into this franchise.

All in on the Samurai Champloo train. Same director so I think you'll appreciate the good balance of seriousness and more mature comedy. The setting of the show and the music it contains are very different from Bebop but the quality is carried over

Nick K

Gonna throw in my hat with everyone else again for Champloo, hope it gets put on the poll

Dev

Would love for Tony to watch the original GITS movie before the show as it's an iconic piece of anime and scifi cinema, but I also know working a movie into his schedule is much much harder. Recently rewatched the first episode because I was thinking of it for Tony and it still holds up really well

Nick K

Gonna bump Samurai Champloo! Curious about your opinion on the lofi culture and tunes and this one is loaded with the best of it.

i think that or monster could be good, tho monster is a bit long

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

Is it weird that I think Tony would like ODDTAXI? It's pretty unique and a great story

Like Death Note or Attack on Titan there's no anime that'll fill the hole Cowboy Bebop will leave :( Samurai Champloo is the most similar (think i said before it's the Code Geass to Death Note, as an inferior show to watch after) and Space Dandy is.. eh another one made by the same creator. You liking Love is War changed my mind and I think you may like Space Dandy. Another anime that Cowboy Bebop gets compared to is Trigun, both futuristic westerns and iirc they aired on cable TV back to back. People used to love it almost as much as Bebop but saying Trigun is dated is an under statement. The new Trigun series is so different from the original and showed a lot of promise, I do recommend Trigun (2023) over Trigun (1998). None of these will leave an impact like Cowboy Bebop though

Fuji Nami

would love OVERLORD for a replacement! especially with the new movie coming online VERY soon.

Ainz Ooal Gown

Definitely Samurai Champloo seems like the best option as a replacement for me

Esthefano Sebastián

I’m all for samurai champloo

akRomulus

Samurai Champloo is the best follow up imo. Same creator and very similar structure of storytelling

Cswerve

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002-2006)

neZiiak

Shangri-la frontier or goblin slayer.

Square Block

Samurai Champloo is a lot of fun, by the same director as Bebop if I recall. Not on the same level as Bebop but still quality.

Any show from the same era, 2005 and earlier I'd say

JoeyGuy7

Lazarus (from the same director) looked interesting and is starting April 5th.

Eli L.

If you want to keep a similar vibe, Samurai Champloo.

Hermit

Man... the feels are strong with this one. Moments in this show with little dialogue end up saying so much. If you want another classic anime that can be enjoyed in dub, Black Lagoon would be a good pick. Same dubbing company that produced Death Note.

Jet Man

Saga of Tanya the Evil Same voice actor as MaoMao from TAD

Lora

I’m surprised Evangelion hasn’t ended up on a poll yet (unless I missed something lol). It’s… quite foundational in a lot of ways (both in Japan and in the west), would be interesting to see here.
