Steins;Gate Rewatch Ep 23B

Ok πŸ‘€WOW what a difference in the last few mins there...
I had a lot of questions after the ending music.
I'll take as much info as you can give without spoilers

Steins;Gate Rewatch Ep 23B

Comments

Looking forward to the Steinsgate 0 watch. I think this is even more emotional than the first season even though I love both of them equally.

Rem is best waifu

Agreed, I think treating it as a 'what if' could give the impression that this timeline does not have any weight on the original one.

Victor

So timing wise with when everything released: Steins;Gate visual novel in 2009 Steins;Gate anime in 2011 Then in 2015 during a rerun of the show they swapped episode 23 out for 23b to connect to the Steins;Gate 0 visual novel that released a week after 23b Then in 2018 Steins;Gate 0 was adapted into an anime.

AussieBoy

Yeah, but I guess it's okay as long as you don't go into it thinking this is just a "what if" and that it's actually a "sequel/prequel". Specially, since... 0 is not as good imo (at least the anime), knowing this anime was relevant to the original definitely kept me from not dropping it since I wanted to know how he got there no matter what. And I do see some value in keeping the reason of "how does it have a connection" as a surprise if you don't realize it somehow beforehand.

Lixien

I agree, it's a bit baffling to me to hear it referred to as a spoiler. Understanding 0's relationship to the main story is key to the experience in my opinion, and I don't feel like it's actually a mystery.

Anorus

just binged your reaction to this entire series, excited to see what you think about steins gate 0, its a bit different, but the ending is soo worth imo. A little jarring to hear the english dub since I didn't do the rewatch episodes, so kinda glad we're going back to japanese but that's just me. Hope you enjoy the ride either way man

Bjorn Knudson

also just wanna say that it's fair to say 0 is a sequel to the original series and has more relevance than simply being an alternate outcome. makes you appreciate the series as a whole even more

who is this guy

Pretty much all of your questions are MAJOR spoilers lmao. Enjoy the ride and hopefully no one spoils it out.

skrrt

so is ep 24 not gonna be rewatched this time around? or is the next upload gonna be a double reaction of 24 and SG;0 episode 1?

who is this guy

Tony, any thoughts or predictions on what Steins;Gate 0 is going to be about?

James

(This is a question for the viewers so don't read Tony) Is mentioning what EXACTLY is Steins Gate 0 about a spoiler? That it's about THAT Okabe, I hope you know what I mean (I just dont wanna say it, just in case). I watched 0 with that information and I dont think it ruined 0 for me, but is it better to not mention it to keep it as a suprise or is it necessary to watch Steins Gate 0? My opinion is that it's better to know what it's about so you're not confused, but yeah, I wanna hear opinions.

Lixien

If you're asking what released first, the original 23. 23B is a prologue to Steins Gate 0. The synopsis of Steins;Gate 0 is that it's about an alternate timeline in which Okabe doesn't save Kurisu. As you've seen 23B, you already know this. I'm just gonna say one thing: Steins Gate 0 is NOT just a "what if" story, it connects with the original anime and it's completely relevant. 0 needed to happen for the original anime to happen.

Lixien

To answer your question about which one came first : the regular 23. Now why did they make a 23b ? Answering that would be spoiling, you will have to figure it out by yourself ! The only thing I can tell is Ep 23b is the beginning of SG 0

The timing is off because writing of inconsistency, but just know that the after credit scene you saw takes place months after the events of 23 (might be worth rewatching that scene one more time). The first season of Steins;Gate is a complete and standalone story, but the creator really wanted to make the movie, so that was made. Once you start watching the first episodes of Steins;Gate 0, it'll make a little more sense on why that was made and we can elaborate more at that point. People will undermine Steins;Gate 0 because of the writing and rightfully so, but it does have some importance in the overall story that is being told in the SciAdv series.

James

Are we continuing with the dub into 0 or going back to sub? Can’t go wrong with either. Also we can’t really answer your questions about when things take place and why the split without spoiling 0.

SimplySora

Where 23 and 23B start to differ is after the failed attempt and Mayushi does not slap Okabe and instead comforts him in his sadness. Which causes the rest of 23B and Zero to happen.

Haiiro

To be fair and talking from the visual novel perspective, the original one had like 8 endings or more if I recall correctly. Then the author and developer decided to take one of the many endings of the original game to connect it with a new game which is SG 0
