For those curious about the definition of a sonata, from Britannica:
"sonata, type of musical composition, usually for a solo instrument or a small instrumental ensemble, that typically consists of two to four movements, or sections, each in a related key but with a unique musical character."
It's a bit deeper than that but that is a good general explanation.

My view on the seriousness/meme-iness of the story is that everyone in the world is taking the events seriously except Shadow. The Cult is serious about gaining more power, the Shadow Garden is serious about idolizing and worshipping Shadow, the Midgar Kingdom is serious about viewing the two as threats, but Shadow just wants to play his two counterparts; Cid Kagenou, Background character A and Shadow, the Eminence in the Shadows. He certainly has all this power, but there's no real plan for all of his actions, he just kinda wings it and it just so happens that his ad-libs tie in perfectly with the world around him. I saw it described by someone as "this must be what it's like to fall upwards". And he gets this bleed-out effect of others taking his shenanigans and emulating them kinda diluting the seriousness of the world, like Annerose and her neck-cracking/sneezing foray.

2025-02-22 09:41:20 +0000 UTCThe name is Doemu Ketsuhatto in japanese. Doemu basically is used when you call someone a masochist, doesu would be a sadist. Ketsu means ass and hatto might mean hat. So the name is literally Maso Asshat, but official translations made it Perv Asshat. Btw, Cids family name Kagenou has "kage" in it, which means shadow in japanese.
