Anime Schedule 2/17 - 2/21

Thank you for the support and being part of Patreon!
We finish Fate/Zero this week 👀
Carole & Tuesday is in full swing (Was there talk about this in Dub vs Sub?)
Twitch Stream Tuesday night as of right now
Not going to add a replacement for Arcane yet as you can see this schedule is PACKED
I have been looking at some of the top Anime Patreon creators and I realized sometimes my schedule was more packed than theirs. Difficult to do and also do other job-related material and also have any shot at getting YouTube videos in the mix.
Thanks!!

Anime Schedule 2/17 - 2/21

@kinetic I am just not comfortable renting a PC and uploading all sorts of videos of myself and adding ANOTHER subscription service. My monthly costs are already insane. Thank you for the suggestion. New PC is getting built next month.

DrumRollTony

I like the megalo box suggestion, it’s pretty damn badass and grungy plus sports which lets us segway into HAIKYUUU

BlakStatik23

"For me, once exporting starts, my PC is basically unusable because the process eats up all its resources." I'd recommend looking into cloud/virtual desktop if that's a bottleneck for the editing/export process. You can basically rent a beefed up pc from a cloud provider e.g. Google/Amazon or something like Shadow gaming and it won't block your personal PC from being used

kinetic98

Yeah it's a shame too I love fire force a lot, like that sound design and fights are next level. But the fan service, particularly just that one character, omg she pisses me offff lolol

MegaRaikou64

@Isaiah That is not at all what he asked.

DrumRollTony

Is your channel your full-time job? I think with drow he's wondering your work-life balance if you already have a full-tim/other job. I think he's asking more of how do you manage to juggle a life, with your reaction channel/patreon and another job on top of it. Love the content Tony!

Isaiah Brown

too much fan service

Jose Maldonado

True, the more you add to it the more I understand the workload behind it. I always like to know more about stuff I'm interested in and I know it's not as difficult as a real job but people would be dumb to take for granted the work that goes behind it. I knew there was a lot of work behind it which is why I'm here on patreon in the first place to support said work but I never knew HOW much.

Drow1270

I also think in your initial assessment of episodes you forgot that each Cowboy bebop and eminence in shadow is not 1 but 2 episodes per logo on the schedule. That's twice the length in recording and augments exporting time as well.

DrumRollTony

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Sanbiki No Kaeru

And this is why you dont watch fate/zero first because it is a Prequel, you won't be as invested in or/and won't understand the story and characters as is intended if you do. It might work 50% as a standalone but if you watch this first then you miss out so much, and it makes it harder to pick up/keep track and understand most of the characters.

Linus Pettersson

I understand a lot better now, thanks for the explanation!

Drow1270

Hey Drow, Let me answer your questions. The process itself isn’t difficult once you understand how to mic, light, and record your setup. Once that’s dialed in, you can almost "set and forget," but like anything technical, there are always little tweaks that mess things up. It doesn’t happen too often, but often enough each week to be a bit of a pain. I think the biggest thing to clarify is the assumption that a 25-minute reaction takes 25 minutes to produce. If that were the case, everything would go a lot smoother. Here’s how it actually works. For Patreon, I record at 3840x1080. Once I stop recording, I bring the file into my editing software, drop it into the timeline, and duplicate it into two layers—one for the anime and one for my face. Then I crop my face into a circle, add a background, and resize it to fit in the top right corner. That part is pretty simple. The time-consuming part comes after, when the export process begins. This is where the speed of someone’s PC matters. For me, once exporting starts, my PC is basically unusable because the process eats up all its resources. Once the video finishes exporting, I open Photoshop to create the thumbnail. This step is quick since I use a pre-made template and just swap in an image from the episode that I like. When all is said and done, the entire process takes around 50–55 minutes per episode. You might be wondering why I record at 3840x1080. The reason is simple—this format allows me to repurpose every episode for other platforms down the road, like my second YouTube channel, TikTok, or Shorts. Keeping full resolution for both the anime and my face makes future edits much easier. There are a few exceptions where I don’t follow this process. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, for example, is recorded in one file because of DMCA concerns. Those reactions will never be used for other content, so they are uploaded directly to Google Drive. Processing times for these vary—sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes up to 2 hours. Steins;Gate rewatch follows the same method since those videos also won’t be used elsewhere. For Tier 3 reactions, I use the "D.A.D." format, which doesn’t require re-editing, making things much faster. Most of my working hours during the day are spent on this process. I usually force myself to stop at 3 PM to check YouTube analytics, reply to comments, plan schedules, or work on other projects like Blue Thunder. Then at 5 PM, I take another break to get away from the screen because staring at it for too long isn’t great for my eyes or health. At around 8:30 PM, I get back on the PC to start planning for YouTube. You mentioned that there isn’t a new video every day, and that’s because uploading is just the final step in a much longer process. For example, my latest video is 90 minutes long, but it took over 8 hours to make. Each video varies in production time, but on average, a normal video takes about 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on how much work is involved. Idea sourcing, scripting, filming, editing, and exporting take up a big chunk of time. Thumbnails take the longest, and research also factors in when deciding how I want things to go. I love the process, but it’s a lot of busy work. That’s why when I finally sit down to play Rivals or any other game, it feels like a well-earned break. That said, this is still 10,000% easier than teaching high school band. LMAO. Not even comparable.

DrumRollTony

I know you have a main job and let me clarify I've never done reactions myself but how difficult is it really? I'm legit asking I'm not joking or taking a shot at you. I just ask because watching an episode of each anime you have listed there takes like 6-7 hours every week. It's also reactions so editing is not really a thing for Patreon and you don't do Youtube reactions either so you don't have to edit those. You do have to edit the music reactions for Youtube and those you also don't cut or shorten so editing is a lot easier there because you also don't do youtube daily. So where am I going with this? I think yours is a normal schedule. If anything a lot of other patreon creators focused on anime don't do anything, barely any reactions a day or a week and it's also their main job. I may be speaking out of my ass but when these creators say "I didn't have time" my mind always goes to how did you not have time to watch a 20 minute video. Most of them don't even edit them and just cut from them saying hello to thanks for watching and that's it.

Drow1270

Orb is vinland saga levels of good I think Tony would love it

jddn

It had like 20 comments in the arcane thread

JoeyGuy7

Megalo box would be great.

Brendan Coen

Dunno if it’s popular enough but I feel like Tony will enjoy it massively.

Raydough

Lol I don't enjoy keeping track of multiple characters at all.

DrumRollTony

Let's get orb on the poll as a fate replacement, lots of people on the orb train in the last poll thread from arcane

JoeyGuy7

Every fate is a bit different. i think fate heaven’s feel probably has the most and best looking action (3 movies), then there are other fates that aren’t animated by ufotable but have fights like every episode and there is almost no story whatsoever it’s like 100 characters getting introduced at once and fighting each other i couldn’t even watch it lol.

Meru Tenchin

I vote fire force as replacement of fate

makotheQ60

2 demon slayer eps this week W

michael ESSS

Was thinking a while ago with him enjoying Steins; Gate as much that maybe Terror in Resonance would be a good fit for after the SG rewatch

Ster_arch_13

Sooo Glad you dropped Fate from day 1 i was like he not gonne enjoy it. oh well you gave it a good go also reagaring Carol and Tuesday deffo Dub as the singing is in dub on both versions so, to avoid it going from japapense talking to english singing so yeah deffo dub plus dub is good

marlin

If you've never seen or read Pluto, or Monster, both written by Urasawa, you're in for a treat. Great thrillers, can't talk about those without spoiling. Mushishi is a very unique and chill show. Each episode is its own wild story about a man dealing with supernatutal creatures turning people's life upside down (like feeding on your memories every night, stealing your voice, etc)

Hermit

I haven’t seen those, but I don’t doubt they’ll be good options. I was thinking Orb which is currently airing on Netflix. It has the same vibes as Vinland Saga, and the story is unique.

James

So maybe Seinens like Pluto, maybe Mushishi

Hermit

His top three are AoT, Vinland Saga, and Steins;Gate. He’ll want to watch anything that’s intellectually stimulating or at least entertaining without the usual anime tropes.

James

I honestly think Carole and Tuesday is great in both sub and dub. Ultimately I think I'd give the edge slightly to the dub but that's how I watched the show for the first time so that's just what I'm partial to.

peeps

Now that you mention it…you’re right. Are all Fate series like that? The franchise always seemed so confusing to me…needlessly so.

Sarai

Is there a specific genre you'd be interested in seeing more of for recommendations?

Hermit

Carole & Tuesday dub isn’t as good as the sub. I mean at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter but I don’t think the switch between speaking Japanese and the English singing is that jarring.

AussieBoy

I agree. It is really packed, especially if it’s just you doing all the editing. Other reactors sometimes hire editors and such so they tend to pump out more content. Double DS is nice.

Sarai

It’s because of the yap sessions that fate has and barely any fights throughout the 24 episodes. I completely understand it.

Meru Tenchin

I kinda thought he was liking it, surprised lol. Though I’m one of those rare ones who dropped it because I wasn’t really having fun watching, so I could only really check out the reactions but still with not much interest.

Sarai

I was counting down the mins on each episode. Not fun. Rider was killer but that was only a small % of the show. It was sold to me very different than what it actually was

DrumRollTony

Carole and Tuesday is great in dub. You should go with that.

Ben

didn't like it or not enough time? lol either way, relax wiht the schedule, even if it was 1 video a day wed be good

Red Menace

Lol no

DrumRollTony

True, your anime schedule always seen to be more packed as we go on........ Anyway I'm assuming we going to Fate UBW after Zero :)

Lichrin69

Something to keep in mind when considering dub or sub for Carole and Tuesday. The music (as far as I know) was all produced in Canada, so the vocals will be in English. Up to you if you want that consistency. Either way, I'm happy the time has come for Carole & Tuesday. Still my favorite music anime.

Jet Man

two Demon slayers in one day call that a double D
