Arcane S2 Ep 9

Wow. What an ending and what a show 🔥
Concepts were massive and displayed in such a unique visual storytelling experience.
Lots of final thought questions at the end of the reaction. Check out the start for a quick talk about what is next and your suggestions. Thank you!!

Arcane S2 Ep 9

Warhammer Pariah Nexus & The Tithes.

Teal Sword

Shangri-la frontier

Arsenic805

(Same director as Cowboy Bebop, and it shows)

Hermit

Recommendation: Samurai Champloo Samurai Champloo is set in Edo-era Japan (1603-1868), blending culture with hip-hop music. The story follows Mugen, a wild swordsman, Jin, a disciplined samurai, and Fuu, a girl on a quest to find a mysterious samurai.

Matej Božič

Would love a mecha show some day, kind of a blind spot here. Hard to win a poll with one tho, feels like the younger generation isn't really into mecha.

JoeyGuy7

I dont know how you feel about mecha anime or if you even have an opinion on them, but Eureka Seven is in my top three personal favorite anime. A longer show admittedly, and also im just realizing its no longer on crunchyroll or netflix. It used to be on both iirc. Hopefully this doesnt stop you from maybe checking it out at some point. I might even recommend a music reaction to the second ending, one of my favorite songs.

Thoughts on the episode: - they rewrote a lot with Victor's character compared to his original lol form. LoL Viktor is The Machine Herald, archenemy with Jayce, The Defender of Tomorrow. Before arcane, we had never seen Victor's actual face. Now Viktor is The Arcane Herald...he got a huge power boost, and jayvik is the trending most polarizing contented ship on the internet in recent months - Dr Singed's daughter revived at the end. He won. All of the terrible war crimes he committed, the lives he sacrificed in the name of progress and love, the tragic events he personally kickstarted...and then he wins while everyone else loses. - it's heavily implied that Jinx is still alive. Caitlyn was looking at the map drawings of the escape tunnels underneath the hexgates. It also shows the blimp flying away at the end, and Powder said in ep 1, "one day I'm going to ride in one of those." - the tune that Vi was humming is the same song that Powder was singing at the very beginning of episode 1 - Mel and Ambessa are original characters to arcane. Ambessa is the newest Champion in LoL. Her title is Matriarch of War. They haven't made Mel a champion, though I suspect they will later. Would love to see you react to Ambessa's music video and also Welcome to Noxus later.

Lora

Definitely think Castlevania would be a good one!

Yuyu

My recommendation is Run With the Wind. It won't win the poll, I know, Orb and Castlevania are way more popular...but I just had to throw it out there. Personally, I think you'll love Orb a lot. It's definitely your type of show. Tbh, I would not be against an arcane rewatch either haha

Lora

That would be a good one some day.

Jet Man

Maybe Invincible!

Derek

🤣

DrumRollTony

Probably won't see any long running Shonen on a poll until after Jojo is finished.

peeps

Vinland Saga and Hunter x Hunter are absolutely nothing alike but okay. Also if we ever were to start another long Shonen on here it'd most likely take over the Jojo friday time slot since watching multiple 100+ episode long battle Shonen at the same time is a bit much.

peeps

Saying stupid shit like that is going to make him not enjoy the show. HxH is your comfort show, and a good show, but it is not the best fucking anime of all time.

Avalon

As much as I would love for him to watch this. Getting through the first 2 arcs is tough….

Cody

We need Hunter X Hunter once again it's the best anime of all time you can't ever regret it. If you liked VInland Saga I promise you will love HxH.

Tony grow a beard man i want to see you with a wise looking beard

Kona

Castlevania is really good! I think a new season also dropped rly recently so perfect time to get started. About the death of Ambessa (Mel's mom). There's still a lot of unanswered questions hanging around that, even for those who know the lore. We assume the shadowy figure is Leblanc, the head of the Black Rose organization of Noxus (think CIA/KGB but with magic) and one of the most important characters of the Noxus empire. Oh also! You might want to check out "welcome to Noxus" it's a 3m video that gives a bit of a teaser for what will come after Arcane.

Hermit

I absolutely love Dark! But it's the kind of show where you need to pay attention and keep track of a lot of things. Considering it would be 1 ep/week and the amount of show Tony's watching simultaneously, I don't think it would work.

Hermit

Since you liked Vinland a lot I would recommend orb: on the movements of the earth

KillyxJoker

MEGALO BOX!!!!!

Brendan Coen

Yes this. Not kidding when we say it's animated by the same studio and shows teaser for the next show. (It'll probably be years till it's ready though)

Chris Johnson

I just wanna see HxH at some point in the future, maybe not necessarily after Arcane because it is very much anime but it is one of the OG ones (a lot of JJK style anime was inspired from HxH) so I hope it gets into a poll

Yibi

Dark, The German Show on Netflix is an absolute 10/10. Imdb backs it up as well. Would love to see you react to it! Some great music as well!

MAYBE

I’m gonna second Shangri-La Frontier but all the suggestions so far are elite

AussieBoy

I have seen the original. But not the new one

DrumRollTony

Would he like Dexter? i think it'd be fun if he hasn't watched it already, but you would have to really like it to watch 8 seasons, maybe it would drag on?

Harvey

Thank you I did not know that

STAR

All the ending of this show makes me think is man, I’d much rather be watching a show based on the other world from episode 7

Avalon

I'm going to spam this comment section on what's already been suggested, but Orb: On the Movements of the Earth is worthy of a watch. It's a story that's basically about the clash between Heliocentrism (everything revolves around the sun, risky thing to believe in during that time period), and Geocentrism (everything revolves around the Earth, what the Church believe in). It falls towards being a true seinen with the bare minimal number of tropes. Btw, please apply the 3 episode rule for the next poll.

James

Gonna sound like a broken record but Castlevania gotta be it

Avalon

Thanks again for this incredible journey of a show. Arcane really has a very special place in my heart. The way they structured and displayed this show was really such a unique experience and always makes me feel a bit lost when it ends. Things you might have missed in this episode. Ekko our boy savior only managed to save the day because Jinx used her Shimmer Powers to dodge her "upload cord" so the one meant for Ekko had to get her. It is also heavily hinted at that Jinx escaped the explosion through the vents. There is one frame before the explosion where we see a small purple streak. That combined with the last scene featuring the airship makes her "breaking the cycle by walking away" a given. I think the Ambessa/Black Rose/Mel scene was just like portrayed. Mel feigned working together with the Black Rose to defeat her mother, but then still attacked them because in the end these are still the bastards that killed her brother and through that forced this whole conflict. I am very excited to see how Welcome to Noxus will expand this universe and story! Thanks for the watch Tony!

aramis alfons

It truly does have Vinland Saga vibes, mainly with one character. There's issue with writing at times with this show, but for the most part, it's intellectually stimulating.

James

One thing I will say about the finale, or the last 3 episodes in general, it's like they forgot vi was a main character, and the dynamic that made season 1 so great was lost to a more "endgame" style war. Even character moments like vi hearing jinx eluding to "breaking the cycle" and offing herself, instead of going after her, chose to smash in a prison cell. Season 1 was an 11/10 for me, and season 2 was great as well, but I wish they kept to the heavy character conflict that made the original season amazing!

Belac

If you didn't know, you have the option to edit your comment.

Jet Man

Now for some commentary on the actual finale of the show. Everything from start to finish has been a spectacle to behold, and I really hope we get more shows with production values like this in the future. But as for the story, it feels like a little bit of a let down that Season 2 lost the plot of Season 1 in exchange for some larger than life threat. No real complaints other than that. The show delivered in all its cinematic aspects otherwise. I did feel a little bit lost on understanding why Viktor had the motivations that he did. Or rather, why he was so bent on them up until the end. The extraction, or whatever it was that was happening with Ambessa, was not all that clear to me either. Was Black Rose trying to extract information from her brain or something?

Jet Man

Castlevania! It's time for peak!

You're so based for this

JoeyGuy7

I second this but also do the Blood, Sweat, and Tears video as well since it has backstory on Ambessa and the whole “wolf vs fox” thing they continue to mention

BlakStatik23

I’m still gonna throw in the Overlord recommendation to continue where we left off with that last time. Onto the episode, Sevika (the girl with the black hair and the gambling arm) is one of my favorite side characters in this show and her sitting at the council table at the end shows that even though the class issues with topside and bottom haven’t been solved, there are strides being taken to try and rectify that. There is the criticism that the show lost track of that part in season 2 and made everyone come together, not really from a unity standpoint but from a “we’re all fucked if we don’t do something”.

BlakStatik23

@jet Man As much as I would love PLUTO to be here. it would get BTFO by everything cause people no longer watch Kino

AntonJ0™

Oh that sounds interesting

Psycho Pass

Flashny

Im 100% up-to-date on Akane. Its in my top 3 ongoing manga atm. And Id bet its up for an anime, maybe as soon as 2026

Xudos

Not a show recommendation but you should check out “Welcome to Noxus” on LoL YT channel, about 5 minutes. It’s an epilogue to the show, animated by the same studio that also gives insight at what the next story in this universe will be. Also has some pretty good music like always. Even if you don’t post a reaction it’s a short must watch after finishing arcane, it’s almost like a long, fancy after credit scene/teaser

sakamata

Summertime rendering!!! a story about a young man who returns to his hometown after the death of his childhood friend. The story is a blend of horror, science fiction, and i know you will definitely enjoy this show it’s similar to steins gate! 😉

STAR

Still holding out hope for Castlevania on Netflix! More eye-candy in its own right, with some stellar characters and setting to go along with it imo.

Mustache

Such an underrated show. Akane-Banashi is another phenomenal manga I'd recommend if you want another Rakugo centric story.

peeps

I would've suggested it regardless, but sticking with the animated but not quite anime theme I've gotta say Castlevania.

peeps

Invincible!

SimplySora

shangri La Frontier should be right up your alley

Ishda

Invincible

Jet Man

Im gonna throw in an oddball Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu Its one of the best, I suppose "drama" is the way to put it, shows Ive seen. Amazing story and characters, very uniqe aswell. All over I think its a fit for you and the community, but it is NOT popular. Id assume most people here havent seen it, and people here seem to have a wide pool of shows they reccomend. Anyway worth throwing out if anyone else has seen, or want a show like this

Not as perfect as the first season but still a good season of Arcane. I'm hoping for Orb: On The Movements Of The Earth, a very good anime that has quickly become a contender for anime of the year for me with every new episode that comes out

V STAN

Invincible! Personally dissapointed with the last arc of Arcane, we go from class conflict to another bigger than life threat. Oh well, at least it was still a feast for the eyes.

LegionaresCZ

Time to psycho-pass

Logan H

I recommend Psycho Pass. It's an anime that I believe you'll like and it has much more mature themes. It's a sci-fi that reminds me of Minority Report. The characters are adults, which I consider a plus. I recommend that you watch the first episode and see if you like it or not. It's not a very well-known anime (I've never seen anyone react to it), but it's still a hidden gem. Psycho Pass, like Steins;Gate, the first season is a masterpiece, but the next seasons fail to reach the same level, not because they're bad, but because the bar was set too high by the previous season.

Tuturu

AntonJ0™

Orb: On The Movements Of The Earth. It's a historical drama that takes place in the 15th century, about the battle between the church and science about if the earth revolves around the sun. Very good, gives me Vinland vibes.

JoeyGuy7

I'm still pulling for Shangri La Frontier as the next title, might be a better fit for after solo leveling tho. Time to watch the "Welcome to Noxus" video Riot released at the beginning of the year, it builds on the end of Arcane and where it goes next!
