Yeah I completely agree. Although it seems that according to another commenter, there's 2 really weird scenes in Part 7, but I haven't read Part 7, so my comment on no more weird shit only applies up to to Part 6 I guess.

You are right, it could have been drawn/posed differently, but this is how it was drawn in the manga and generally David Productions tend to stick to source material. If you disliked this, just wait until Part 7 gets animated, I have no idea how David Productions is gonna deal with the absolute weirdness in 2 super particular scenes when they get to it.

It's just that for non Japanese people, the idea of even being naked with around others is also weird since there's no culture of bathing together, so the immediate beginning of the scene where he asks to enter will raise alarm bells for non-Japanese viewers when it wouldn't for Japanese viewers, so as non-Japanese, your senses are already heightened while they aren't for Japanese viewers. Normally these scenes would involved full censoring using steam or light, but for some reason which I don't understand it wasn't done here

My pov is crime witness vs serial killer and a serial killer would do anything to destroy his crime evidence. Imagine if you were Kira, would you not do the same? It is true that there is a lot of tension in that bath scene. But if you put aside the age factor, what we just saw is a crime witness confronting a serial killer. Do you expect Kira to ask politely to get his crime evidence? And if you think about it, the reason Hayato keeps the videotape with him even when he is bathing is because he knew Kira would search his room. Kira did search his room. Failing to get the videotape in his room, Kira’s only choice is to confront him directly, hence the bath scene. It is a natural plot development. Of course, if the director truly wants to avoid this scene, he definitely can. But I don’t see anything wrong with it. If you are uncomfortable with an anime showing a kid’s sexual organ, then maybe, you are just being too conservative.

I understand your point of view and I would be on your side if I haven't watched stuff like Dragon Ball and other anime. Just have to trust me this is played for creepy or comedy not pdf. Anime has a huge pdf problem but this isn't an example. It's normal for same sex people to bathe together in Japan and the double u's (uU) is just an relic from the past (this manga is from the 90's) before anime got big in the west and adapted to more a global mindset. Granted the anime is modern but they're purposefully playing up the cheese factor because if they adapted out of touch stuff seriously it'll be a much worse show.

Definitely still weird though.

Also it is considered normal in japanese culture for parents to bathe with their kids, and the reason Hayatos pp is not censored but Kiras is, is because of some weird censorship laws in Japan. Well atleast we got awesome meme from this scene.
