One Punch Man S2 Ep 3

Straight-up comedy gold

One Punch Man S2 Ep 3

Comments

I like Eminence a lot more, probably because I've watched a ton of anime that Eminence is making fun of, and idk the whole concept of it is a lot funnier, even if the moment to moment of OPM is funnier. Although I do think OPM is the better show if that makes sense, I'm just weird I think haha

Bjorn Knudson

How on earth did anyone compare Eminence and OPM wth

Spicoli

Finally I get to catch up with some OPM reactions! Yes, I fully agree with you on the comparison argument, Tony. I gave the main premise some grace in one comment I left in one of the Eminence in Shadow reactions, but I believe trying to equate that to OnePunch Man is kind of an attempt at saying, "this one's also super good, you'll like it, I promise", imho. I'd compare OPM to something like Konosuba, every day, and twice on weekends, before even thinking of Eminence in Shadow as a viable option. Anyways, OPM always delivers, so glad you're still enjoying it so much!

We are doing 2 a week

This show need 2 episode chunks.

That frame of Garou when he realizes he's about to get rocked, and he starts sweating so hard that the sweat moves up his face is one of the funniest things to me everytime. I have rewatched those few seconds way too many times it's hilarious

Also in that in both shows, you as the viewer are waiting for the moment when the mc walks in and fucks up everybody's plans. That is almost how each arc goes in both shows. I personally find humor in that.

Ger3g

Not sure if he was referring to my comment. But I did make a similar comment on the last EiS. If he was, I was mainly referring to the humor being similar from the perspective of both being parodies of their respective genres. The comedy held within each episode I agree is very different, and in a different style. I think they are both on different ends of absurdist humor packaged in the form of a parody of their genre.

Ger3g

I think so

DrumRollTony

I get that but the person said the humor in both shows were similar. OPM is goofy characters in a goofy world with a protag whos a normal part of the world but is too op to care. EoS so far is a serious world with serious people with serious situations with a protag that wants to roleplay as an npc. So far there's only been a few scenarios that seem comedic and it's the protag actively playing it up purposefully. Not saying anything is wrong with the show or its bad but I don't get how someone could find the "comedy" similar.

Does Tank-Top Vegetarian need to become Tank-Top Vegan to unlock his full potential? πŸ€”

Hermit

Yes the comedy delivery is different I do quite agree

Ger3g

I mean, they have similar elements. The quality of the humour and the show is another story. I don't think they are trying to say they are as good. The part of him being in his own world and the people around them being like actually serious is similar, not that deep.

Lixien

Does the person trying to compare Eminence to OPM think the act of the protagonist not taking stuff seriously = jokes and punchlines? 🀣

Frizen

Saitama at the end was like "LET GO OF MAH PURSE! I DON'T KNOW YOU!" *lights out*

smileybones

The pacing of season 2 feels pretty rushed. Still pretty funny and enjoyable tho
