2025-01-15 22:23:17 +0000 UTCThis dynamic works cause this is a prequel that was written assuming you already know gilgamesh and kirei that you would be interested in them. People already know whats going to happen to these characters so watching how it happened is the appeal here.

2025-01-15 21:28:49 +0000 UTCYeah the long dialogue (there's been at least 2-3 full episodes worth over the series) centered around Kirei developing his motivations is definitely my least favorite part of the show. That can work when you're dealing with a villain with relatable motivations, but with Kirei it's basically just a lot of talking to work towards him accepting that he enjoys and wants to act on being a sadist. He's such an alien character that time spent understanding him tends to feel wasted.
