It was nice to get that backstory.

Part of the reason I enjoy the reactions to Rezero is because I really enjoy the rewatch of things, because a lot of scenes you can view in the first time viewer sense of certain details just being there, and the rewatch sense of getting a lot more significance out of seemingly insignificant things. Also others have mentioned "cringe" episodes in coming up, and all I'll say is that the show is taking you places and there's no easy way to get there. It doesn't shortcut you to a happy ending, as you've seen this show is kind of about learning through suffering. I really appreciated what the arc of things was but that doesn't mean you can't have negative thoughts about the journey. It'll be interesting to see what you think by the end of that, but can't fault you for your opinion cause that's why we're here.

The next arc really brought me around to Re:Zero, I was already enjoying it but the amount of character work, development, complexities, depth and action in the next arc really appeal to my tastes, I’m interested to see what you think!

Similar to Steins Gate, I would agree that Re Zero does contain rewatch value, though maybe not as much as S;G. Also, while the holiday was yesterday, wanted to take a moment to say we are all thankful for what you do.

The dragon he talks about was only mentioned briefly before, but they said in the storybook that the dragon protects the country per a deal with the royal family. (The royal family now being all recently killed/deceased)

Just for context this was the end of the second arc. Just like how the first four episode of the series revolved around introducing us to Subaru and the new world as he tried survive his encounter with the bowl hunter when he was trying to get Emilia 's amulet back. While the past six episode involved Subaru trying to survive the curse that was placed on him. All of this is to say that the series is broken up into different arcs where Subaru dies on bunch of times trying to getting out particular predicaments while we get more character development for Subaru and those around him while also learning more about the world. While the overall plot points regarding the witch slowly get expanded upon. The whole talk that Dio had about killing the dragon is one of the big plot points in the series that won't get resolved until the end of the series so its not something that will be the focus anytime soon. Its just the Authors way of dropping plot points for the future. That is why the series can feel overwhelming at times as there is more talking then action in this series. So starting next episode until the rest of season one we will be getting into a new arc where the focus well shift again as we get introduced to new characters and Subaru gets placed into a new scenario he has to try to get himself out of. So be prepared for a lot of talking but also some of the best actions scenes for this season and a very memorable episode that produced a lot of memes.

There is an OVA (Re:Zero Memory Snow) that takes place between this and episode 12, however, since you've been iffy on the show lately I suggest skipping it and if you come around to Re:Zero more you can always revisit at the end of the season (it's canon content but isn't particularly important) As for the dragon thing with Roswall, the anime has very lightly touched on the dragon back in episode 6 (20:35 in your reaction), but greater details have yet to be shared so dw about that. As a last thing, a couple of the coming episodes might make you cringe, but that's the correct response to the writing's intention and the payoff will make you view those moments in a different light (hopefully).

The music during the backstory fight is one of my favorites in this series. It's called "Echt of Sorrow" https://youtu.be/80MDVw0i6mc

I really thought you might drop this because of the Patreon upload limit thingy, i'm glad you didn’t. There are some more cringe episodes ahead, but it'll be worth it. Quick cultural note: in Japanese folklore, "oni" are demons with two horns and mock thinking about the future (as in a Japanese saying). This might give the episode more context that gets lost in translation.I also thought Re:Zero was boring/slow at first, but on a second try changed my mind. Thanks for sticking with it!
