Thats been debunked btw

I dont think anybody wrote about this, in 17.18 you can see grow up Waver, riders master, as part of his army.

Lukasz Sobiecki

Since you've already seen Vinland Saga, I think the easy comparison here is to say Saber is almost like Thorfinn, in vision and how reality meets that vision. Both want an ideal and peaceful world, but the question really is "is that kind of world even possible with humans?" and the answer is.. probably not. It's why Thorfinn is doomed to fail, because we know historically he didnt succeed, and it's why Saber failed. People can't follow the perfect ideals of a leader like that and conflict will always come from it.

This anime is cool. King Arthur is a cute anime girl and Alexander the Great is a chad who can summon an army of heroes whenever he wants. Gilgamesh is a sassy self-centered jerk but is entertaining to watch

Bottle episodes are always great to learn about characters, now make your characters legendary heroes from mythos and history. Badass.

I want to summon a reality marble

DrumRollTony

Also just to call attention to it, when Iskandar summoned his army they called it a reality marble. Which is basically a pocket universe that can be summoned (for a lot of mana) which represents a core part of the caster’s identity. Since Iskandar is the true vagrant king of lust and wonder, all of his soldiers are part of his identity, because they want to be like him. We’ll see another reality marble in this series which is rather pivotal.

Avalon

I’ve always been a fan of Arthurian legend and the knights of the round. But this episode always makes me wonder if might does actually make right in the end, or at least in the right hands. Fantastic philosophy here

Avalon

Theres a lot of debate on sabers characterization during the banquet. Personally I think she wouldve handled it better and be less affected by riders words. Also knowing how her life went, shes kinda valid how she feels.

The old men of the mountain is also where the word "assassin" originated from.

Thx for the info

And so the first servant to die is assassin. Time for some lore. Assassin's true name is Hassan-i-Sabbah, also known as Hassan of the Hundred Faces or Old Man of the Mountain. Was one of the nineteen leaders of a sect known as the Hashshashin or the Order of Assassins. As the leader of the Order of Assassins they possessed a vast variety of skills and a mind that no one could predict, hence the title Hassan of the Hundred Faces. However in truth they suffered from a mental illness commonly know now as multiple personality disorder. This mental illness eventually was portrayed in the holy gril war as Assassin's noble phantasm. The name given to this noble phantasm is Zabaniya: Delusional Illusion. A rank B+ anti-personnel noble phantasm that splits Assassin into its multiple personas which we see throughout the anime. Ironically their wish for the grail was to be made whole again; to regain a unified sense of self.

I remember me and my brother watching this episode for the first time together. we just sat and pondered what we just witnessed with an occasional "damn" between us to break the silence. This episodes is definitely one of my favorite stand alone episodes of anime in general!
