The Apothecary Diaries Ep 21

What a great episode. All the little elements that make TAD fun are in this one. There are only 3 left... check out my post-episode thoughts for possible suggestions on where we go next.

man oddtaxi is so good, and so underwatched

Isaac Noël

- Odd Táxi - ID:Invaded - Pluto

YuuS2Touko

Ive most likely missed it if hes mentioned this but by the time he finishes S1 I believe S2 will only be 2-3 weeks away from airing. Is he moving on to another anime and we need to vote S2 back in to watch ??

John Stevenson

Soundtrack for this show rules. Kevin Penkin and the other composers did amazing work (as usual) As far as a replacement goes, Dr Stone seems like a good suggestion bc of the problem solving elements. If you’re okay with something not detective-y, you might also really like Shangri-La Frontier, since it has some great video game / RPG elements.

Sam

Pluto was the first one to come to mind at the end of the video. I think Tony would vibe with it very well.

GradMustang

Oh yeah you’re right lol. He’ll probably finish up something else by the time it’s out and maybe be able squeeze S2 in.

Sarai

You’ve got 3 episodes left but thankfully you’ll only be waiting like a month until the second season starts lmao. It’s hard to think of other anime that do the episodic mystery stuff quite as well as this but overall mystery anime that I would suggest would be OddTaxi and Erased. Someone also said Dr. Stone which I can see as that is a lot of fun and has a lot of problem solving through science which is fun to watch.

LINK CLICK. Titled officially as “Time Detectives/Agents”

Sarai

I have mentioned it before, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex fits perfectly into the detective and problem solving category. It's effectively an episodic cop drama in a heavy scifi universe with a red thread main storyline. But it's so much more than that too.

Auks

psycho pass

komuro

Dr. Stone has a similar light-hearted feel that is laced with problem-solving and science.

Katakuriko

Erased is a really good and short one that'll scratch the detective, problem solving itch. The Promised Neverland is also really good as well but it suffers a bit in season 2 although the first season is literally like masterclass with how it goes.

BlakStatik23

Yeah. There are going to be about 4 weeks between when you finish Season 1 and when Season 2 starts. Perhaps, for those weeks, you could double up on some other anime, use that time on other content, or find something short to fit in it's place. For example, Love, Death, and Robots (think less anime visuals and more arcane visuals) has episodes that are self contained short stories. You could watch 4 and stop.

Jet Man

Suggestion for the next anime in this slot ID:Invaded detective/investigator style anime that has a big focus on the mindscape of the killer/s. Their agents go directly into a world/dream (similar to what the Demon slayer dreamworld was like in Mugen train) that was formed by the killer/s mindscape leak that was left behind at the crime scene, and using a special machine to enter that world/dream to investigate who the killer is, what their motives are, clues and more. Also has a pretty banger soundtrack

Haiiro

just adding that season 2 will start airing in january

Sk dragon

If we're talking about detective anime I can only think of: Psycho-Pass, Monster, Pluto, Bungou Stray Dogs. There are more but of the ones I've seen I think these are the ones worth watching.
