Steins;Gate Ep 24

I couldn't wait until after the trip to do it, LOL
Special shoutout to Halo S for the informative comment and thanks to everyone else who provided insight

Steins;Gate Ep 24

Comments

Movie is canon. https://youtu.be/Gq1_QgWT-1M?si=PAI_GNv8F3Wi5yVV

Hoji

Finally the end of journey for the original Steins;Gate. Was a great ride, and also Halo S' comment was a great explanation and insight. When I first understood that perspective, I was mind blown too. As for the watch order, many people have already told you the release order, and the best order to watch in. In my opinion just go straight for 23B and Steins;Gate 0 since they're canon from VN, and leave the satisfying conclusion of the OVA and Movie for last.

Zed

@seb 100% the vod well be on here. Don't worry🤘

DrumRollTony

Holy fucking shit... S;G playthrough? You have no idea how fun it is to watch some get into something as much as you did with S;G. Any chance those segment will be uploaded to Patreon? For many of us catching livestreams is almost impossible.

Sebastian Stróż

Bought them today on Steam, lmaooo. Gonna stream some of it on Twitch when I get back

DrumRollTony

If you ever get a chance to play the VN, whatever confusion you have might be clear up since the anime is a very condensed version of the VN. For example, in the first episode, there’s a scene where Kurisu is giving a lecture which doesn’t last long, but in the VN, it’s about a 20 minute lecture on time travel, etc. all of which is based on real science. There’s a lot more details in the VN.

James

The steins gate movie 😂. It’s called the load region of Deja vu and deals with that

Chaisen

Tell me 👀

DrumRollTony

SG 0 he’s inevitably gonna watch, and while I love it to death just like the original, I’ve got a huge gut feeling he’s not gonna like it bros. Other than that that’s the show! Glad to be on the journey. My favorite show in general, both live action and anime.

Chaisen

The dub is amazing, the actors put their all into it

Chaisen

24:20. The worldline changed, Suzuha that was in the machine was from the beta line, therefore she’s phasing out of existence.

Chaisen

11:03 boy do I have a movie for you

Chaisen

Time travel fiction is difficult because time travel is inherently paradoxical and impossible in reality. What the showrunners and scriptwriters have to do is establish a set of rules for how their time travel world will function. Follow their own rules and avoid stuff that messes with the fragile suspension of disbelief of the viewer/reader, even if that thing is a story writing cliché that has nothing to do with the time travel itself. I would also have liked it more if Okabe fails the first time in a more straight forward way by failing to prevent Kurisu from getting stabbed by her father, instead of the more shocking and melodramatic outcome meant to maximize Okabe's despair and guilt that we got. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter that much.

Auks

"No one knows what the future holds. That's why it's potential is infinite" - Okabe

James

I never put together what the person in the comment said about the final dmail being from the other Okabe's perspective,so I learned something new from this reaction too!

Alberto Munoz

I remember 0 being really good but it’s been so long I’m hazy on the details

SimplySora

the OVA acts as an episode 25 and kinda puts a nice bow on everything

Alpora

before Steins;Gate 0 you should watch the OVA (Egoistic Poriomania) and Episode 23b, as Steins;Gate 0 picks up from the end of Episode 23b

Alpora

both of those paths have the 23B before SG0 as the bridge no?

Haiiro

23b is needed in between. It's the bridge

AntonJ0™

Yeah I see it as less of a "it was him all along" and more of "he still couldn't save her, and by attempting to change the result (her being in a pool of blood) completely the attractor field forced the convergence of her dying to shift to him instead." Maybe it would've been a little less annoying for Tony if there was first a scene of Okabe witnessing the dad kill her first so it didn't come off as a reveal and instead just a variation of her death like with Mayuri.

Nick K

Personally didn’t like the 0 that much, you’ll find out why but it’s definitely still interesting enough and it completes the Steins;Gate experience. Please note, you might find a slight discrepancy between Steins;Gate Episode 23β and Steins;Gate 0 Episode 1, because the 23β was originally released as a promotional video for the upcoming visual novel at that time before it’ll be 3 years later Steins;Gate 0 anime got aired in 2018.

mr.svr

Before 0, you should watch the movie, it is a continuation of this season and this timeline

Dan Spi

Ok so simple as I can make it if you just wanna watch every Steins;Gate (in release order) it goes: 1. Steins;Gate: Egoistic Poriomania OVA 2. Steins;Gate The Movie 3. Steins;Gate Ep23B 4. Steins;Gate 0 If you only wanna watch canon content (I.e. stuff that was adapted from the visual novels) then just skip straight to Ep23B. The OVA and movie are like anime original epilogues but still worth a watch. I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to this series, it was fun to see you get mad for the first time lmao. For rewatches I recommend the English Dub it’s quite good but I’ve watched the whole show in both languages multiple times so it’s just whatever you’d prefer really.

AussieBoy

lol glad to see

Avalon

I kind of like it a bit more in some ways. Okabe in sub is more fun as a character, but the localized dub version of some dialog comes across more neatly.

Jet Man

That was a fun rewatch of the series for me, Tony! I'd like to mentions some things that are called "parallels" in anime or manga. Here I'd like to mention two of them: 1) Ep 1. The beginnig of the show. Okabe talking to himself about time, universe and God. Then Mayuri appears and says that they need to go. Okabe stays a bit in silence and then say "Let's go". And they go to radio building. The meaning of the scene is like Okaba living in his delusions and Mayuri always comes with some daily routine stuff dragging him back. Ep 23. After first failed attempt to save Kurisu, Okabe got extremely depressed and was ready to give up. Mayuri slapped him, getting him back to earth. This slap was crutial for Okabe to change his mind. She was the one, pulling him back from his "delusions". This is the first paralle within the show. How the very beginning gave us a small peek into the future. 2) Ep 13. Okabe time leaped first time and started looking for Mayuri. He ran to Ruka, called Fayris but always was some steps late - Mayuri already left those places. Ep 24. Mayuri bringing flowers to the hospital to Okabe. But didn't find him there and started looking for him. She went to Ruka, Feyris, Daru. But Okabe always some steps ahead. That is just beautiful parallel. I like when I see things like that in anime, they are very satisfying!

d_swordfish

Ok first of all, getting invested is not cringe. Speak your mind and even if you are wrong, just listen to what others have to say. People watch reaction channels to see genuine reactions. S;G is confusing. If anyone says "yeah I got it all on first watch", yeah bs... On that note (something for your rewatch), in one of the episodes Okarin ends the D main that doesnt trigger anything and Daru asks if it worked. Okarin answers with "if it did, would you remember it?" answers is 100% yes, because current timeline would just move forward. Getting confused in a sea of information is just part of the process. Anyway, I like the change of attitude. As a final thing for your travel rewatch, dont think about Christinas murderer as THE case to solve for this anime. It isnt and never was the case. I never watched 0 so im gonna experience it with you so im looking forward to it.

Sebastian Stróż

I just remember or realized there is 23B, Which makes question about the watching order. I remember watching stein gate > ova> movie> 0. And maybe 23b after finishing or while watching 0😂 Now I understand why some people say order doesn't matter as long as we finished stein gate. I feel like stein gate > movie > 0 would makes people appreciate the story writing more. If we watch 0 before movie, It would give a happier feeling in return😂😂😂 So I suggest watching the movie first, and the. Go to 0.

CK C

You have to look at episode 23 beta before starting Steins Gate 0, it will be the starting point of Steins Gate 0 (it is an alternative episode to episode 23)

Félicien Michel

SG 0 immediately after this is my recommended move. I love SG 0

Sam

there are two watch orders Steins gate > OVA > Movie > 23B > Steins gate 0 or Steins gate > 23B > Steins gate 0 > OVA > Movie going with the 23B to SG0 path will be the juicier path with more canon content while the OVA and movie path is more non canon content.

Haiiro

It basically tells us that if Okabe had done the same thing as he did when he saw Kurisu die by "deceiving himself and the world", like Schrödinger's cat theory, the three-week timeline he experienced may or may not exist.

UnknownDeadpool

Hey man was great seeing your reaction. For the next entry you have two paths: There’s the OVA going into the movie which both continue after the ending Or there’s episode 23b going into steins gate 0. From my first time doing it I did steins gate 0 first, but it’s really up to whatever way you feel. Looking forward to seeing more steins gate though!

How Sneaky

The knife pull out and the instant zap are so funny, man. I get he needed the blood anyway, but out of context it's the worst possible decision you can make when stabbed lol. I watched the series once years ago and was done with it, I don't think it's all that clever, it's self consisent, sure, but ultimately the Attractor Field just felt like a Dr Who concept to me, not really high level prose, just a competently done character piece with some soft sci-fi mumbo jumbo.

LegionaresCZ

I think we can watch the OVA first, it talks a little bit of post story after Ep24, giving us some insights before going to the movie, so that we can understand the relationship they have when they don't possess memories in Beta world line. And the movie is related to story after the OVA. After finishing that, we could finally go to 0, which is what I think making Stein Gate peak😂😂😂 Stein gate might be unclear for the first 10 eps, But for 0, I think starting from ep1, we could already feel the intense.

CK C

On a rewatch of the show, I recommend giving the English dub a chance. I personally like it more but realize I’m in the minority.

James Long

It'll be showed in more detail in Episode 23b but I think it's ok to reveal what Steins;Gate 0 is going to be about (it can be a bit confusing). Steins;Gate story is basically ''over'', everything you get after is just ''extra'' things that expand on the story and the characters having fun in their new peaceful timeline (the OVA's). Remember the message that Okabe gets from his future self after he fails once? Okabe needed to fail once to get this message and the plan to save Kurisu (it's a simple plan, but it's hard to come up with in the end) Some people have the opinion that Okabe receiving that message from his future self feels like an ''ass-pull'', it just comes out of nowhere. Well, this is where Steins;Gate 0 comes in, it's basically the story of the Okabe that failed to save Kurisu and lived on to eventually send the message. You're gonna see the full context of how he got there. So yeah, the OVA's are just some fun chill episodes The movie is an Original story that takes after the events of steins;Gate where we got a new problem, and this time our protagonist is Makise Kurisu. Episode 23b and Steins;Gate 0, like I said is the full context of the Okabe that failed and came up with the plan. It's like a prequel. It's your choice what you want to watch first.

Lixien

Reminder: "Steins;Gate is a Heideggerian Nightmare", as requested!

GardeninTool

Also, I can't change your opinion on the "cliche" nature of what happened, though if it eases your mind a bit, I'd like to say the point of the scene isn't meant to be a reveal really. The focus of the scene isn't the mystery of "who killed her?" but more so "is it possible to save her?" so I personally never really thought much of it, as I was much more intrigued in the clever loophole they found to change the past with, and solidified SG as my fav time travel system.

who is this guy

As for "what's next", there is an OVA and a movie that take place after the events of episode 24. Though If it were me, I'd move on to episode 23b and then SG;0. Your choice though!

who is this guy

What a strange comment

Owari

gotta add that rhetoric to make the comment effective lol. And yea, my otaku pride was hurt after you talked about the skyscraper, that I didn't even realize/think about being illogical. Same thing in the last S;G episode.. my golden otaku years... were actually fake gold made of iron, and now they're rusted..

Matias

Hey man, since you told me to remind you about that one track when you finish the series a few episodes back I made sure to remember haha Songs called "Gate of Steiner - Piano". Its the piano version of the main theme Theres 2 main different versions of it. They're the exact same song, the only differences being the tone/quality of the Piano and some minor differences in exaggerated dynamics/tempo and stuff like that. Personally I prefer the tone of the Piano in this version as well as how its phrased, I think its got a lot more mood and weight to it. Its a bit more interesting to listen to musically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IQy143A_vU But theres also this version which I believe is the direct one we hear in the anime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgtqUrbotWo Again, pretty much the exact same song, just with minor differences in instrumentation tone/dynamics Anyway, thanks for reacting to the series bro. Been awesome watching your journey. Havent seen this series in a long time and its not too often creators react to it so its been fun. Also apparently they announced Steins;Gate would be continuing in some form just yesterday along with the 15th anniversary, so it looks like you finished it at the perfect time!

Flare

It's the rite of passage

Owari

That reminds me, I don't remember if someone said it in the last video (and there are too many comments to check), but both the OP's of episode 23 and 24 use the SECOND stanza (? I don't know music terminology) of the same song. The lyrics are different.

Renegade

I'm sure you all did. I will 10000% be looking at stuff after a re watch. Its likely much easier to understand with help from vids after the organic 1st experience.

DrumRollTony

I'm not following. We def not gonna drop! LOL are you talking about the skyscraper episode in Death Note where I made fun of its construction in a absurdly short amount of time? haha

DrumRollTony

I guess this is like that one Death Note episode reaction as well. Through your reactions I'm realizing how shitty even the 'good old' anime actually were lol, and yeah, I watched this when I was pretty young still. Anime is shit. But this is pretty much still the best there is among that shit so please watch it. If you decide to drop it, I will be wating for a readalong of Dostoevsky's, Joyces', and maybe Dazai's novels. They have actually stood the test of time, and you can't complain about bad writing then. Although it will be put into question whether or not you can even read them lol

Matias

"That makes sense, kind of, it's confusing but makes sense" We all watching an explanation video on youtube after finishing the anime for the first time lol
