Jhoes Venture Part 4 Ep 18

Comments

Also yes, Shigechi is playable in All-Star Battle, at least. The game came out before this season of the anime did so the 3D Harvest models you're seeing here are ripped straight from the game with CyberConnect2's assistance.

I'm a bit late on this but if you specifically wish for comments by the anime staff regarding each episode, they're on the fan wiki, in Section 4. Commentary. I'll refrain from direct linking since obviously fan wikis are terrible with spoilers outside of the articles, especially with stuff on sidebar etc. so here's a paste of the executive creative director's comments on this episode. had to remove one part because he started talking about an upcoming episode. "I think this episode is the one that has the most 'acts' in the entirety of the series. Things are constantly moving and nothing will stop these little rogues. Eri Nagata is in charge of the storyboard and the directing and will come back in full force in another following episode. Shigechi is a funny little guy, don’t you think? I appreciate the sudden change in his facial expressions. We discover him when he’s still a friendless kid, getting accustomed to his new buddies, but his sudden mood swings don’t get better… We added a scene that wasn’t originally in the manga, the one where Yukako discreetly follows Koichi in the shadows. This is an episode where we take pleasure in following Josuke and Okuyasu as they assume the roles of 'rotten kids'. These are two high school students profiting from a middle school student, I think there must be something wrong with their education (laughs). Starting from here, the story focuses more and more on the essence of Part 4. But if you had to remember one thing from this episode it would be the outstanding performance of Wataru Takagi, Okuyasu’s voice actor. During the recording, the whole team was laughing out loud. Here’s a small digression to inform you that Harvest was the only 3D animated Stand of this part. To draw these multiple creatures by hand would have been too much to ask for our team." rest can be found on each individual episode's page but on your own discretion! I think they could be a good offline past-time read once you've caught up with the whole series, or maybe each individual part.

yeah little caesers is 7 bucks, great for bringing to long dnd sessions

cue

💀

DrumRollTony

Yeah, Araki draws Joestar teenagers basically as grown men. In Stardust Crusaders Jotaro was 16! Yare yare da ze!

Isaac Noël

If I had the harvest stand, I'd command it to bring me Josuke's hair one by one

Hermit

Araki had an exhibition all about himself at the Louvres, and has worked with brands like Gucci, I don't think he needs anyone to protect his reputation at this point. Also you'd never say that the Lord of the Rings movies are the sole creation of Tolkien or Peter Jackson. I don't see how Jojo (or anything else really) would be different.

Hermit

That would be David Production. They've done such a fantastic job of bringing these pages to life, but there isn't much documentary-style material covering the production of the anime when compared to the wealth of interviews with Araki. I wish there were, though!

Ryan Pitcher

Lmao I had the same grossed out reaction when I first saw Shigechi. Hard to imagine this is some kid in middle school 😅 those poor children. Just goes to show there are no limits to Jojo’s artsyle cause even though he looks so grotesque it’s surprisingly not so out of place.

Astro

Having Harvest would be a cheat code for printing money for yourself. Automatically brings money to you as long as you specify the item without needing to actively control it is insanely convenient.

SKAOG

Didn’t mean to sound defensive, I just genuinely couldn’t remember whether or not you were aware jojos is an adaptation of a manga, being inclusive of the entire team is a good thing to do, and If I ever end up being part of a creative work of a bigger scale I would wish people referred to the entire team when talking about it rather than just the most prominent person part of it.

Klarin Black

I feel like people are defensive because I am being inclusive of folks past the OG author. Reading a manga panel does not insert voices into my head or bring things to life. I MEAN (lol..) John Williams may have written the score for Star Wars but the conductor and massive amounts of symphony players are the actual people that bring you the experience of music. A manga is more open to everyone in comparison than that of reading an orchestral score with the skill being so different... but you get the idea. Be ok with me saying creators.

DrumRollTony

Just wanted to clarify it since you often times refer to “the creators” when talking about the wild concepts of some things in jojos, which are mostly, if not exclusively, taken pretty directly from the manga. I agree though that adapting Jojos(or anything really) requires a wide array of talents and talented people to do, there’s a reason that jojos only got a proper adaptation 25 years after the manga started despite already being wildly popular and influential , and that is because it’s damn hard to properly convey the things in it.

Klarin Black

"I mean". Were you clarifying a previous point? I only see one comment. I can assure you the multi-media experience we get in this anime is from a team of people requiring massive skillsets and expertise. I don't just mean the OG creator but am taking into consideration the skill set of the cast (voice actors), sfx, and epic compositions that we get along the way. This is much more than the page.

DrumRollTony

I mean the entirety of jojo's is written by one man, Hirohiko Araki, and there's plenty of interviews where he talks about his creative process and his inspirations, even an entire book I think(even though I haven't read it), so there probably weren't any meetings for the anime concerning plot or characters, as it was already all done and designed in the manga for the most part(even though Araki does undergo a pretty drastic stylistic shift during part 4 speifically, so that would probably something that was debated within the anime studio).

Klarin Black

I guess I am referring to the team that brings it to life in the anime version.

DrumRollTony

You often mention it, and I'm quite surprised acually that no one clarified it yet. You talk about "Creators who come up with stuff", but... ALLLLLLLLL of the Jojo's, every epiode and every part - it's all a very faithful adaptation of a manga that was created by ONE person. So, everything that you love and see in Jojo's is a work of one single bizzare mind of an artist named HIrohiko Araki. So you can be greatful to him for all the crazy stuff! :D I sure am)
