Steins;Gate Ep 22

Comments

definitely this order!

Alpora

if you watch Kurisu's mouth after she threw the bottle, she actually says "Sayonara" which means "farewell"

Alpora

Totally agree. Steins;Gate is not even a romance show, and it got 1 of the most perfect romance couples ever! Such a well made development and episode.

Zed

@d_ that's a good name tbh. Oooo maybe that's the rename for the 2nd youtube channel

DrumRollTony

Time to rename this patreon to "Tony TV"

d_swordfish

Duddeee Iโ€™m watching this anime for the first time with you. Itโ€™s funny how many times we share the same thought process as the story moves us along, truly a mesmerizing experience for everyone who sees it! Canโ€™t wait for more.

Astro

Rewatching it second time after many years with you here. And yep. Thats anime still top as i remembered it was

FYI, the author actually had thought about the plot of Steins Gate 0 when he was writing Steins Gate, but he didn't present it. Then he started to consider making Steins Gate 0 few years later. Also, when Japan rebroadcast Steins Gate (in preparation for broadcasting Steins Gate 0), the author changed episode 23 to episode 23ฮฒ and didn't broadcast episode 24 on purpose, he wanted to treat Steins Gate 0 as another ending. Btw still personally prefer follow the release date order.

UnknownDeadpool

Nah that's the next episode

Hoji

Also the credits music to my knowledge is "Fake Verthandi" but it's an anime version of the song (the original in the VN is quite different but I prefer it).

who is this guy

Love the detail of the shot of power lines converging when Kurisu was talking about the possibility of all the different variations of her across world lines all comprising the collective "her"

Joe

In regards to memories, he won't lose them at all. Realistically he shouldn't have the memories he has now, as logically the worldlines he's moved from do not exist and yet he remembers them clearly. Reading Steiner will persist even without the time machine.

who is this guy

btw the song from the end credits is called "gate of steiner" its the intro song for the VN. Careful searching it up on youtube as there's a s;g 0 version that might spoil a tiny bit.

Chaisen

agreed

Personally, my watch order is 1, 3, 4, 2 (didn't watch 5). I think it's important to focus the Steins Gate 0 plot (including 23b, very important), as it is still actively a part of the story and isn't in the realm of "is it canon? is it not?" that you get from OVAs or Movies.

who is this guy

This was the episode I was looking most forward to you reacting. Even more so than episode 12. My favorite episode in all of fiction period Iโ€™ve got a soft spot for a well done romance and I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ll find a better duo than Kurisu and Okabe any time soon. Hyped to see you react to the next episodes.

Chaisen

since it seems you're really loving the show, this is the recommended watch order of all steins gate stuff from the steins;gate subreddit: 1. Steins;Gate (completely, episodes 1-24) 2. Steins;Gate Episode 25 (OVA/"Poriomania") and the Movie ("Deja Vu") (optionally, you can leave them to the very end) 3. Steins;Gate Episode 23b ("Missing Link/Divide by Zero") 4. Steins;Gate 0 (completely, episodes 1-23) 5. Steins;Gate 0 OVA ("Valentine") (fully optional, sort of a filler/bonus OVA)

MGC

One of the greatest episodes in all of fiction

Owari

This episode and how well that romantic storyline resolves are definitely part of what makes this show just so spectacular to me, I absolutely loved how they chose to resolve the romance in such a truly heartbreaking way, it is just so damn good.

DrumRollTony

you can do anime lip reading? :D

d_swordfish

Bro like comeonnnnnnn, we know what the fuck it meant FOR REAL ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

DrumRollTony

Just to clarify. After Kurisu threw the bottle she said "Sayonara" which means goodbye. And yeah I cannot wait for next week...

Now we've finally gone full circle of heidegger's philosophy that was discussed and foreshadowed between our two MCs back in episode 12, about how humans are temporal creatures. "Time-haunted" to rephrase. When the concept of death is lost to someone due to the ability to re-do key moments via a time-leap machine. The willpower to do anything or care starts to fade. And we the viewer, don't even really realize this behavior until Kurisu, literally slaps Okabe with the reality check. Okabe stopped being shocked, he started doing actions for Mayuri at the cost of her suffering her own death over and over again. Just an absolute masterpiece of writing this piece of media. If you want to listen more about the subject. There's a video called "Steins;Gate is a Heideggerian Nightmare" that I highly recommend watching after you finish episode 24. (I can remind you.)

GardeninTool

this episode never fails to make me cry ๐Ÿฅน

Edgar Lopez

One of the best and most well written romances in anime.

andoryuguen

Haha almost forgot that cliffhanger, enjoy the last dance of this show !

Kentaro35

That's how you do romantic storyline. Iconic. Legendary episode!

d_swordfish

The music at the end is another version of the song I mentioned last time that you told me to remind you about a few eps ago. It's another variation of "Gate of Steiner", except this one's obviously not the piano version. Not sure what the specific version here is called but there's a lot of different arrangements of that song (like there's legit a 2 and a half hour compilation of different versions of the theme lmao) because it's kind of like the main theme for the series I looked it up and it seems like people are saying that this version isn't even listed on the official OST, so it might just be a short remix they made specifically for this ending or something like that. It sounds pretty similar to the visual novel main theme version though. Maybe someone else knows more about it Also mann, gotta love Okabe and Kurisu's character development throughout the series
