Oshi No Ko S2 Ep 11

In jp they also never mentioned the word loophole, it was something like " oh, Aqua didn't consider this possibility because he wanted to put this issue down" I was really thrown off with the guy who committed double suicide, I thought, doesn't this guy look too plain to be the father of these twins?

Omg my goat

was that john lennon? had me dyin, he is truly alive, and he and elvis fled to japan apparently

Red Menace

tbf in jobless reincarnation defense, not saying its ok, but it is explained through the plot in a way that makes sense, the main character had a psychotic break at 14-16 years of age adn then stopped progressing mentaly, even as he physically aged, so it was more the psyche of a young teenager in a grown body unable to grow up due to insane trauma, and the re-incarnation is merely the plot tool that kicks him in the ass to grow and overcome his past stuff, whereas in this show its a legit 30 year old who is mentally 30, reincarnated, its much much more creepy, even if both are creepy, one is worse by far. ps. but to be clear, its still creepy in both cases, and isn't right. pss. while i agree that re-incarnation, like every other religious thing, from heaven to God to muhammad, has no empirical data of being truly supernatural, in japan they are mostly shinto/buddist, so it is a cultural thing. i feel the need to come back and add a psss. however in traditional re-incarnation as a theological experience, as fas as i understand, its more that your soul is re-incarnated, and that you get either a good or bad life depending on your actions in this one, not that you are re-born with all your memories/personality intact, like in this show and jobless

Red Menace

Lmao your comment on the crow sounding real. Was Demonslayer’s crow VA choice that bad?

P_ateric

@legion. Exactly... I'm not sure how to politely explain that to folks LMAO

DrumRollTony

This is just a convenient excuse though, reincarnation, outside of religious belief, is not something we have actual empirical data on, so when a story says "it's ok for him to date teenagers you guys!" the story suffers and the author is being creepy. I sincerely hope Aqua stays the course, it would be a massive shame for a good series like this to be bogged down by this.

LegionaresCZ

Sounds like the Father's voice is Miyano Mamoru, who is the voice actor for Light Yagami and Okabe Rintarou from Steins gate lol. He has a lot of range to say the least.

Katakuriko

Great episode with a fun combination of lighthearted plus serious moments, and the soundtrack complimented it all very well.

Honestly this just comes with the territory of a reincarnation plot and I understand it’s disturbing to some extent. At least Aqua knows where to draw the line, even if his mind is mainly consumed by his life of revenge. At least this isn’t “Jobless Reincarnation”; that’s just gross no matter how you look at it.

OVERSIGHT..... the word is oversight Why is this hard? 🤣🤣🤣

DrumRollTony

Loophole 1a: a means of escape especially : an ambiguity or omission in the text through which the intent of a statute, contract, or obligation may be evaded 2a: a small opening through which small arms may be fired 2b: a similar opening to admit light and air or to permit observation While The usage of the word is definitely untraditional, it's technically not incorrect. There was a small possibility of information that aqua didn't consider that could lead to his father actually being alive. I can't really say what it is, cuz I feel like that's spoilers so I'll play it safe and keep my mouth shut.

At the risk of also being called questionable, I must say that they are not wrong haha. It's something that is sometimes touched on in shows where there are reincarnations, as you grow up as a baby in a new body some of your former identity is lost and even your "mental age" and physical age can even out as time goes on, I think it's mentioned in the first season. Also in science fiction shows where a brain is transplanted into another body they often talk about the level of control between mind and body. I think something similar happens in real life when an organ transplant is done (I think there are cases about heart transplants?). Not to justify anything lol I'm just mentioning characteristics of these situations in sci-fi/supernatural plots.

Loayza

Just to be clear, I didn't say that to say it's ok for him to have romance, I said that because his age actually is an interesting thing that only actively got addressed in the beginning. Also it was a great excuse to mention that the person that is burning with revenge is very deliberately portrayed as the Doctor, not Aqua. I'm 100% behind the notion that Aqua shouldn't have serious relationships with teens, even if his current and past self continue to separate.

Klarin Black

Some of yall questionable

DrumRollTony

Lol 🤔x2

DrumRollTony

Yeah, this is also supported by the fact that his past self and his current self's personality feel different. Even before Ai's death. Usually when you have these type of plots, the personality stays the same but Aqua feels more like a different character that just happens to have the memories of a different man in him.

Lixien

🤔

DrumRollTony

Quick thing About Aquas age, while it is true that he has memories of his past life, everything else seems to be the same as with normal people as indicated by him having experienced stuff like infantile amnesia, puberty, low energy as a baby etc. Because of that it's kinda hard to classify his age, as he is a teenager both mentally and physically, just with heavy PTSD, this is further strengthened by his current self and his past self being presented separate from one another in his own mind.

Klarin Black

The GOAT Mamoru Miyano

Loayza

Fun fact: the voice actor for the character shown at the end also voices Okabe in Steins Gate and Light in Death Note!

madcoop

Not really the meaning of loophole. Maybe a translation error??

DrumRollTony

Couple of things: Aqua never considered (or probably subconsciously didn't want to consider) that it was the mother who was having an affair. Not the father. Secondly, Himekawa is approaching 20 while Aqua recently became 17 (judging from the Japanese 3 year high school program and age shown in the 1st episode of the season). Himekawa mentions that the double suicide happened when he was 5. But the timeliness wouldn't add up. The kids would only be barely be over a year old or two if that were the case. But they were in kindergarten at the time and he was clearly alive since Ai called him to visit days before her death.

GardeninTool

I think what Akane means by such a simple “loophole” is that the father who offed himself and his wife wasn’t the one with the affair, but his spouse. And yeah, it’s clear when you see at the end that Dad is clearly still alive lol Aqua probably just subconsciously didn’t notice because the guy internally really just wants to let go and live his life like normal.
