You can either watch it as a movie or it was released as a handful of episodes. You won’t miss anything by watching the episodes vs the movie. My guess is it’ll be easier to just watch the 24ish minute episodes than a 1.5-2hr ish movie.

( If not, i am sorry ) It's the guy( Giyu is his name ) from the very first episode, who did send Tanjiro ( main guy ), to his master, so he can become a Demon Slayer and maybe save his sister. The master who taught our main guy, also taught him. Thats why he uses water based attacks too.
