Are you here for FMAB?

Just trying to get a temp...

Comments

Nah he's enjoying it other than zenitzu

makotheQ60

I'm worried demon slayer might be next on the chopping block

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

@kinetic98 you naughty boy

Avalon

"titans of adult entertainment" and "deeply stimulating" reminds of something completely different from FMAB. lol sorry couldn't resist

kinetic98

I tried FMAB and despite all the good reviews i got bored of it after 4 eps and couldnt go past it. Also not hating on the dub version but i have a hard time with it sometimes, just a personal preference especially when watching smth for the 1st time.

Jhon 1479

Like what everyone else has said, at the end of the day if your not enjoying it it’s best to just drop it. People have different taste, and while I personally love the show and have rewatched it like a dozen times, if it’s not clicking with you after you’ve already watched 30 episodes it probably just isn’t for you. Also people saying you aren’t enjoying brotherhood as much because you didn’t watch the OG version I think are just coping. The original anime has plenty of aspects to it that I believe are done better that merits watching it as well if your an FMA fan but me and most anime fans started with Brotherhood and liked it a lot from the jump. What’s good though is the more anime you watch the easier it is to do recommendations because people are getting a sense for your taste (hopefully). If you do another vote I definitely would recommend Cowboy Bebop to replace FMAB as the “older” anime show your watching.

AussieBoy

I like FMAB, but do what you feel! If you want to drop it, I think that would be best.

Alberto Munoz

I support this

Lichrin69

FMA is decent but vastly overrated. Theres been talks of FMA fans review bombing other shows to keep FMA on top. Rarely seen anyone put it in their top 10.

Nusutto

fma brotherhood is a fun enough anime, but when you compare it to the titans of adult entertainment you’re watching now with deeply stimulating and emotionally resonate storylines, it does fall flat. I think it’s a matter of expectations. People blow fmab far out of proportion because it was a show they watched early in their anime careers, which leads you to think it’s going to be more than it is. Just a silly fun show with some interested magic. If you drop it and pick up something like cowboy bebop, fate/zero, or ghost in the shell you’ll be much happier, and I for one, won’t mind a bit

Avalon

Just from my perspective being subbed to many react patreon, i see others drop stuff all the time. People have different taste so no hard feelings, thats what makes each patreon unique imo. for example ,that sound euph react imo was worth 5x a month for me personally. just from the enjoyment and the background

Kegs

I will echo the people who say that the most important thing is if you're even enjoying it. I think not even FMAB fans would want to watch you suffer through the whole series if you're hating it this much, unless they're some twisted mind lol. I did like FMAB when I watched it but I agree that it skews younger but most importantly, and it's something I'm realizing seeing what you enjoy, it has a lot of those "loud, screaming 'anime' moments" for comedy that are cringe and extremely grating on the ears -- and I imagine doubly so for someone like you. My favorite part of anime is the flexible, beautiful medium that allows people to tell creative, 'out of this world' stories with unique universes and all the 'anime trope' moments where they're just screaming at each other and it's supposed to be funny are just too much for me, and straight up embarrassing sometimes

An Nguyen

The original is hated on because the plot deviates from the manga, people consider Brotherhood the "better" one so that's what they always recommend

An Nguyen

Well a few reasons, after Brotherhood came out it kinda became the "definitive" version because it's the one that actually follows the manga and has the much more modern animation. Over the years it's also been increasingly harder to watch the original because most anime viewing is dependent on streaming but places like Crunchyroll and Netflix only have Brotherhood available. I'm not saying seeing the original first would make YOU like it more, but I think both existing at once is part of why it gets so much praise in general from longtime anime fans. I think unofficial low quality streams or pirating is the only way to watch the original now. Even any physical releases are likely out of print, so it's been scrubbed from the earth. If you have a morbid curiosity I can message you a link to somewhere that has uploads of it because it can be hard to find, but the again the video quality isn't great. Edit: there is a torrent available with high quality of the original, and obviously everyone has thoughts on that but when you literally cannot watch it legally in any form it is really the only option.

Nick K

I don’t believe the first version is easily accessible as far as I know been totally purged once FMAB came out

Jack Allen

I’d pay extra for a FMAB tier lol😅

Jack Allen

It’s definitely not did you see todays ep😂

Jack Allen

I guess I'm just the odd person out

DrumRollTony

I was the dude that originally recommended Steins;Gate to you and said it was the #2 ranked anime for almost a decade on MyAnimeList (anime bible). It was bumped down due to Freiren taking #1. The previous #1, and now #2, is FMAB with Steins Gate at #3. I don't always go off of what other people think but given the sample size I'm inclined to believe there's a huge payoff. Anecdotally, I have friends who aren't even into anime but watched FMAB and loved it while i still haven't gone through it. Don't really care if you drop FMAB, don't really watch your reactions of it. I resubbed for Steins;Gate, but I'm low key giving it some support just based off of it's position in the industry.

Dolfy

So with that information, why did people have me watch this and not the original? I'm so confused 😐

DrumRollTony

Well just to clarify, you could only spoil some things about Brotherhood with info from the first series, because some details like origins and what things are actually are completely for certain characters and elements, so if you go in thinking x=y that's not for sure the case. It's not like they just remade the show and cleaned up some details, once they fully deviate they are completely different stories with completely different plots and endings. Also not saying everyone has to like it, just that people who were fans of the original series and got this big gift of an alternate series may be inflating it's overall popularity, compared to how much people actually enjoy it just watching Brotherhood. Of course some people don't like either series, or maybe only one or the other, that's fine. I'm just trying to give context and perspective, not override people's opinions.

Nick K

Big fan of FMAB itself, but it's definitely geared towards a younger audience and if it's not hitting for you then it's no sweat off my back if you ditch it

Oxbox

I kinda disagree (I think, I don't know if I'm getting your point right). Yeah, people thst watched the first anime are probablt going to be a fan of this one but I don't that has relevance on peiple enjoying FMAB. Some people don't like fmab because they just don't like FMAB. I'm one of the people that only watched FMAB and it's a 8/10 for me and I'm 100% sure that my enjoyment of it would be worse personally if I watched the first version because any spoilers would worsen my experience (that's why I avoid reading the original source if I'm really interested in an anime adaptation, some people can enjoy both, I can't) So yeah, I don't think it's that deep, some people enjoy fmab and some dont. I personally think that FMAB is a success because of FMAB itself and not because a first version existed. It's one of the top recommended shows for a reason.

Lixien

I love FMAB but doesn’t make for great reactions if the show isn’t something you’re into. If you wanted to switch it for something more your speed, then I think you should.

Sam

I really enjoy the show, and besides the jokey moments, it seems to me the plot points just aren't hitting for Tony or he's just not really into characters enough. I personally stand by the show but that doesn't really mean anything if the person watching isn't enjoying it. Again there's also a weird situation with this show where most people did not people have an "organic" first watch, because again this is the second version of the anime where the plot deviates half way through, this time to the mange accurate plot. So many people like myself were already fans of the show, and then this version came out and it was like getting an alternate reality version of a show you already liked, with many of the same characters but also a lot of new characters. That's not something that I can really think of existing in a full on produced series for really any piece of media besides maybe comic book movies or shows but even then it's a unique situation even compared to those. I just think this means that many people who come in and start Brotherhood are going to have a completely different experience than people that saw the whole original anime first, and it can't be ignored how that probably influenced myself and many others experience with it. I'm not saying you need to watch the original anime, but rather just acknowledging that maybe Brotherhood will never hit the same for people without that context and that's a failure of the show because it's popularity has relied on that.

Nick K

Yea if people have no investment then there really is no need to force urself to watch it. Half the anime is still left. Instead we could replace it with something that’s more ur type

Parampreet Singh

I've watched the original series back in the day, and even then didn't really understand the appeal. Like it had some cool moments of course, but seeing it often in various top anime lists is making me confused.

Baka

FMAB is one of the first 5 animes I ever watched. So I didn't have much to compare it to, but I went into it with high expectations considering it's ranked #1 in most anime lists. My final rating at the time of finishing it was a 8/10. Nowadays looking back it's at best a 7/10 anime with 10/10 moments. I do remember it being pretty much a confusing snooze fest in these middle episodes, but it picks back up around episodes 40 and onwards, with episode 53 being my favorite. And I very much liked how the series ended. But I agree with many, it has no rewatch value besides the peak moments. It's by no means a bad anime, but it's not for everyone despite its popularity. And I'm sure we'll understand if you drop it, or if you would like to continue watching it on your own time without reactions. At the end of the day, you're a reactor, and we are supporters. If you're at the point where you feel your reactions aren't providing any entertainment value for us due to not enjoying the anime, then axe it and explore something else, or save the reaction time to either watch it off camera or just prioritize other ones you're currently watching and enjoying

Arsenic805

I’ve been watching anime for years and there are plenty that I’ve dropped. I’m here for your reactions, and if you’re not enjoying what your watching then I say don’t watch it. I enjoy your content either way!

AnimeMom

Although I am watching the FMAB reactions I wouldn't mind if you dropped it considering I also dropped it around here when I watched it years ago. However, If you continue then I will as well since it's easy for me to watch along here because I check in daily for other reactions as well. All in all I don't want you to watch something you don't find enjoyable, and you've given it a really fair try since you're 30 damn episodes in.

Xoulium

I dont think FMAB is react content worthy and feel like it should be enjoyed by itself as you have time. I personally think its one of those shows where episodes need to be enjoyed back to back or in clusters for full effect. I think right now the only thing im full invested in is jojo and mob and waiting till some of my other votes get their chance now that things like demon slayer and steins gate are out of the pool.

Trowa

I’ve been the guy that says “it’s gets better at x” and i still stand by that. However if you’re utterly miserable then of course switch. Another suggestion is to just bulldoze your way through it like by doing 3 eps a week therefore your not not stuck with it till January. It could also help the pacing issue as then it feels like more is happening every week. Again this is your only patreon so please do whatever you feel is best. I personally would perfer it to be finished (especially because there’s some dam good OPs and ENs coming in about 9 eps. Sorry for the long winded reply but thought I’d weigh in my to sense

Jack Allen

Love the show but I don't really enjoy watching reacts if your not enjoying it

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

I haven't been watching them myself. I think it's a good show but never really understood why it's renowned as one of the greatest anime of all time. It's always unfortunate when you just don't vibe with a show despite everyone telling you how incredible said show is but it is what it is. Everyone's tastes and opinions are different and while there are definitely people unable to wrap their heads around that idea, I think most of the folks here will understand if you drop a show that you just aren't really enjoying.

peeps

Hard agree

SinuHan

I stopped around here the first time I tried to watch FMA:B before too. (I ended up finishing it like a decade later and it was kinda meh overall imo). I bet it was very good at the time but it is very baseline by my standards today.

Tuny kun

LOL this I know about you.

DrumRollTony

i think a fate zero reaction wouyld be a lot better for everyone

Gatsu

Fma was not that original when it first came out either and was basically competing with other shounens of era thats similar in style. Tony is watching older anime and has been fine with them so its not an age thing. Fma, while I like it, has a lot of flaws that I can see people not liking. I myself think fma is vastly overrated even when it was new.

Nusutto

Demon Slayer 😈

makotheQ60

This is good information. Thx for providing your POV

DrumRollTony

Personally don’t understand the hype but should come down to if you’re enjoying it

SimplySora

I believe that FMAB is getting a bad rap because it is an old anime that is getting viewed after all of the newer anime. Tony will never know the feeling of watching FMAB when other titles are not in existence. So it seems unoriginal etc. It makes me wonder how meh the other animes of their time will be viewed, such as Hunter x Hunter, Samurai Champloo, Fate Zero, etc. That probably will have a similar vibe. Yes, I mentioned Fate Zero because the story unfolds slowly even though it is written well. I'm also noticed that this Pateron platform is a bit niche, which is big when it comes to anime. For example, on YouTube, Jojo still holds the most views from the reactions from this platform. However, it is not so much on Pateron. Just look at the split votes between FMAB fans and other. Some are actually fatigued of Jojo, FMAB, etc, due to the more niche nature of this Pateron platform. While some don't care because they have already had their experience. Like music, why watch or listen to something you don't enjoy? If it got ruined by factors, then such is life.

Walt D

Only here for Vinland Saga

JT

I have tried watching FMA so many times and it just doesnt work for me personally. I enjoy your reacts and watch most of them but to me FMA isnt gripping Your other reacts are killer though!

YikesBradley

I really love FMAB but I can get you may not liking it, if it's a drop, I'm sure there are other animes we can both enjoy such as the other ones you reacting to. ✌️

Dario Lizardisilva

It sounds obvious but the point of reactions are not the shows themselves but the reactor reacting to the shows. I like FMAB but if the reactor is not enjoying it or giving me something (there's reactors that don't really like the show but can still be interesting in a way, haters can be fun to watch lol) then there's no point. One other thing that I consider for me to be good show for reactions is that they need to have rewatch value. It has to be a show that I would rewatch myself again from start to finish. Fmab is not one of those. I enjoyed it the first time, not going to rewatch it anymore outside the climax scenes. Like, I would be interested in you reacting to some of the climax episodes but the episodes in between are just boring to watch, that's why I usually hate slow shows for reaction content even If I enjoyed them a lot. So yeah, a no for me. I'm here for Steins;Gate, Vinland Saga, Mob Psycho and I'm watching OnK through you because I'm lazy to watch it myself because I've already read the manga lmao.

Lixien

Actually not a bad idea and I love FMAB, but Tony would enjoy Fate Zero way more.

LegionaresCZ

analytics are there but I wanted to get direct communication as its a community based thing

DrumRollTony

As much as I like FMAB at the end of the day your enjoyment will play a big part in what you think about the show. If it’s too difficult to sit through and seeing how so far it’s a near 50/50 vote I think it’s perfectly fine if you end up dropping it. I’ve personally rewatched the show with a friend and did think it was a little hard to get thru the beginning but I didn’t regret watching the full show with them.

Sean

I watched FMAB maybe about 10 years ago, but it's not something I'm interested in nowadays. I'm here for Steins;Gate, Vinland Saga, and Terminator 0. Out of curiosity, isn't there a way to see the number of views for each video on this app?

James

Should be replaced for fate zero 😅

Juan Ramirez

I watched it once, one of my first anime. I remember watching the 2003 one then brotherhood, and from what I remember, brotherhood starts out waaaay slower. It ramps up later but if you're not enjoying it it might sour it for when you get to the better parts. That has happened to me with other anime.

AsbestosDust

I watched the anime long ago and think it's good. That being said, I don't think it is re-watch material, so not re-watching

Szayel H

I would answer "Yes" if it was FMA_03 but Brotherhood is of no iterest to me. I didn't like it when I watched it myself first time and my opinion never changed since then - the show is heavily overrated.

d_swordfish

It was one of my first anime, but I'm not watching the reactions. I think having seen it once and a rewatch through reaction was enough for me, at least for me it doesn't have much rewatch value. But I'm loving SG, VS, Apothecary Diaries and Oshi no Ko reactions.

Loayza

No point in watching if you aren’t enjoying it. If i really wanted to watch FMAB, I’d just watch it myself.

skrrt

🤞we finish it out

Cody

Uh oh :D
