That is a killer story. What an experience

My first listening experience for this song was truly special. I hadn’t gotten high in a couple months and that first smoke always hits the hardest, so I’m at home in my bedroom lighting up, and I start browsing different wallpapers for my laptop. I’m using a program that can turn your wallpaper into moving images, videos, or even games, and I’m browsing for hours. It’s probably around midnight, been going at it for maybe 4 hours, and I’m stupid gone at this point with how high I am. And then I try this trippy background with abstract visuals that keep changing. Most of the wallpapers loop after like 10-30 seconds, and they don’t say how long they are so when I downloaded this wallpaper, I didn’t realize what I was in store for. The music starts playing and I think “oh, this is nice, I’ll sit and let it play out. And then 30 seconds pass, and then 2 minutes. I keep thinking the song can’t keep evolving, the visuals I’m seeing won’t keep changing, but this video and this song kept going, and as high as I am, I lay down on the bed and strap in and I remember thinking that 13 minutes felt like half an hour with how locked in I was. It felt like I glimpsed something I wasn’t supposed to, and it was beautiful. Fast forward years from that moment, I discover the anime Garden of Sinners after watching Fate/Zero. I had no idea what to expect but every episode was like an hour long. And then I reach the end of the first episode, and it felt like my soul left my body as this song starts playing. I can’t explain how trippy it was to hear this godlike song after only hearing it once so many years earlier. And it both made sense in the anime and felt like two worlds colliding that I wasn’t prepared for. I love this song, and I’m glad I discovered it as a stand alone piece instead of in the anime. I’d give anything to experience this song again for the first time.

Of the music Yuki Kajiru and Kalafina did for Kara no Kyoukai I think that one of the best SONGS is without a doubt "Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Iku." If you find yourself looking for more from them I would highly recommend it. As for this particular video / music track, I am 99% certain that this is all exclusively from the first episode of the anime. A lot of the musical phrases and particular arraignments of the themes used sound like the first episode to me and hearing them again I am reliving those moments of the episode again in my mind. Some of the themes reappear in later episodes but these versions of them are definitely the first episode.

I really hope he watches this, its a very dark but beautiful story man. This is a few tracks compiled from the 1st episode which is 50 mins I think

MikeyNike

Oh, it's the same composer as Madoka Magica's OST, of course it rocks.

LegionaresCZ

just start Garden of Sinners

Jeff

The title actually caught me for a moment because the massively popular anime evangelion also has a track called Thanatos, both named for the Greek god of death. It’s actually pretty interesting to listen to the both of them and see how they approach the same concept from very different angles

Avalon

Garden of Sinners is in the same universe as one of the most requested animes on this channel, Fate/Zero It’s a series of movies that are honestly a little confusing on first watch, but your knowledge of the ‘Nasuverse’ fills in the more you watch and it all starts to click.

Avalon

Kara no Kyoukai anime is actually a series of movies ranging between 50m to 2h in length. Adaptation of books by the same name. This track is from an album that works like a compilation of the soundtrack of all 7 movies. From what I remember each song is contained to soundtracks from one specific movie. I don't remember which movie this one if specifically from, but I think its one of the first 3.

Garden of sinners is so good, the fight scenes are amazing in addition to excellent OST. Since it is done by ufotable the animation is amazing too

kinetic98

Even outside of ufotable its win. Mezame and song of fire and storm are god tiers

Nusutto

Yuki Kajiura + Ufotable = win

elijah lew

Same.

_PoorPretender_

Nice! The Garden of Sinners and its soundtrack are amazing.

Hey, man. Glad you enjoyed the piece! Thinking of what to submit next...

Leaky Peach

Yuki Kajiura formed the vocal group Kalafina specifically for this series. They're especially known for their haunting, etherial harmonies. The vocals you hear throughout the piece are actually them singing, and are not synthesized.

Joe Chan

Her music in SAO and The Case Study of Vanitas is amazing

Sarai

Ah yes, the goat Yuki Kajiura. This is, I think the 3r time she's been recommended. First was "The battle is to the strong" from Fate/zero, second was "Numquam Vincar" from Madoka Magica, and now this from the Garden of Sinners. I hope you get to experience more of her in the future

Szayel H

I guess it's hard to say if it's multiple "songs" or not because yeah this is like a BGM for a tv show, so its intent is to be pulled from piece by piece for different scenes, like not really as an uninterrupted piece. Thanatos is one episode's songs, yes - the first episode. The part you are reacting to a 6:00 is a play on the main character's motif. The soundtrack for this anime has a whole album of these for each episode.

Thats my goat

Nusutto

Yuki Kajiura? You have my attention. She always has a very distinct sound and is so often so good.

Daniel

yoooo this one? This is from Garden of Sinners - I *super* want to see you react to this show at some point. It's dark, magical, and very brutal and adult so it can't go on YT though it'd have to be a patreon exclusive.
