Hahaha

DrumRollTony

i watched teh show in total before coming to watch tony's reaction because i like the second watch/different perspective, and when i saw them bring up piamon(or however you spell it) i knew, KNEW, what the reaction would be, lol.

Red Menace

he did kaguya sama too! love that anime

Red Menace

there must be consideration, but Tony-san's honest attitude of expressing his opinion clearly is refreshing, so enjoying it more than I expected. When OST arent strange atomos, we don't usually pay attention to, at least me. When it's intense, like changing from a bright background music to bass or heavy piano sounds, I may think "it's cool!" ... butwell once it's pointed out, understandable. That's the 2nd point I enjoy more than I expected. KITANI (main) OP, SINJYUKU&SIBUYA, battle, then hitujiED,,, there is no confusion with other work, and S1' OP and ED are different cause they are in perfect connection with the story. So, if there are complaints, maybe they want to watch live of OOISHI's compositions...maybe?

Isa Naka

Not so fun fact, after Akira Toriyama died, author of Dragon ball, someone found statistic, that weekly manga authors lives 20 years less then Japan avarege is.

Lol hidive is just trolling viewers with the yellow subs

Shirobako is perfect for this topic

Robin

Man you should also check out the anime Shirobako by studio PA works. Fantastic anime that goes more into detail about how anime is made from Voice acting, Art, writing, 3D and sound design. One of my favorites

Jc

we need some SHIROBAKO

Jc

that's kind of what I mean, to broaden the category with similar themes. If there's still enough good music anime left maybe not tho

JoeyGuy7

Rly hope akiba sensei can watch the play and then love it a lot and then reconsider using GOA’s script

RamsessZ

Yup, those were my thoughts with S1 when they were talking about how Sweet Today was such an awful adaptation. It's like... "we can't fuck this up, Oshi no Ko: The Anime needs to be good now"

Lixien

Pretty sure the vote after sound euphonium will be all music related

Jet Man

I think eizouken would be great for the vote after sound euphonium, similar themes of kids doing art

JoeyGuy7

10 out of 10 episode. These two Manga artists just became my favorite characters in the show. Granted, that is full of bias because I fall under that same category of creative authors πŸ˜… Also, an anime to keep in mind down the line is "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!" If you want another anime exploring the creation process of manga/anime.

Jet Man

Was about to write the same. Really good insight in the industry and really interesting for someone who does not know a lot about mangas or how serialisation and ratings work.

As a 2D artist who has dabbled in comicwork before, assistants and teams can vary a lot. It tends to be a case of how much are you the lead artist willing to compromise and what roles do you need filled. The Japanese manga scene is known for its rapidfire production and high speed demand from publishers (hence weekly and monthly published terms, quite literally a chapter per week or month its as insane as it sounds.) Assistants usually most commonly will help with the grunt work of a comic, like colouring/lining/filling in shading textures etc and if you are under serious pressure to put out work on a weekly basis you HAVE to have assistants helping you draw. The lead artist will always have control over the story and layout/direction of a page but Assistants are there to help shoulder the work that comes with 'polishing' a page. So for Abiko to have fired entire teams and work solo on a weekly manga is insane. That is how people literally die from stress.

His previous work, Kaguya Sama was also a HUGE hit with a very successful anime adaptation. It was his first big hit as well, so I'm sure a lot of this reflects his experience with adapting Kaguya. It also had a kind of infamously drawn out ending so there might be some feeling about editors in there too lol

JoeyGuy7

Love that she says "weekly manga is not suitable for humans", when the author of oshi no Ko had 2 weekly manga going at once

JoeyGuy7

Just wanted to say, Oshi no ko's author, Aka akasaka, is my personal favourite. The way he writes characters has a level depth without sacrificing vibrance and personality that just hits a sweet spot for me. He weaves all of that in whilst creating drama and insight into various esoteric topics. I somehow always leave his works with a greater understanding or appreciation for a topic he decided to do a deep dive on. I guess in some ways the same can be said for my experience for your videos. It may be fun watching a bog standard reaction but to have someone break down musical elements as we go provides a higher level of experience for me.

Aritome

Unfortunately there is no genre name for these types of work/career focused animes (mostly drama). Most of the animes I've seen of this kind were pretty good

Fiona

Ha! Awesome πŸ‘Œ I'm going next month for the annual DRT meet-up trip

DrumRollTony

If you want to learn a bit more about how manga is created Bakuman is a great show/manga. It goes really in depth about the manga industry and the manga is done by the duo that created Death note.

Klarin Black

id imagine when it comes to quality control and how picky the mangaka is at who ever is assisting them .it depends on the mangaka and the skill level of the assistant. at a professional level, an assistant would be trained with art fundamentals good enough to be able to adapt to the vision/style of the mangaka. but it still takes communication and on the job experience working with the main mangaka to get into the vision

Kegs

To answer your question about manga assistants, I’m pretty sure how it usually works are authors work with editors to come up with ideas for a story and flesh it out, and once it’s ready for serialisation the editor will hire assistants to help the author. I think it varies person to person how much assistants handle but usually they’ll do all the backgrounds and screen tones while the author will do all the story boarding and character art. Also to give some context on how good 50 million copies is, that would put the Tokyo Blade manga at about the 50th best selling manga if it was real. Most series won’t even get to a million copies sold so for a first time author 50 million is an astronomical success. Last thing I wanted to mention was the part about weekly manga not being suited for humans is incredibly ironic considering Oshi no Ko is not only a weekly manga but the author was working on 2 different weekly mangas at the same time. Now to be fair for Oshi no Ko he does the writing and storyboards while the other author/artist will draw the finalised chapter but still doing that at the same time as another series which you are also doing the writing and drawing for is insanity.

Funny tangent about Vegas as I watch from my hotel room at the New York New York in Vegas. Gunna go watch O tomorrow at the Bellagio too! Crazy stuff

kail santini

he answers your question at 22:00 of the video if you want to watch it

Magikarp

I recall you praising the music before in S1 (you also had the youtube reaction to that behind the scenes with the composer+musicians), but I'm not sure comparatively if you have enjoyed this season's music more or not. That said, it would definitely be cool to have a music analysis at some point after this season's OST releases.
