I'm sure this doesn't need mentioning, but Laios doesn't just keep bringing up the fact that he's well fed because that's the theme of the show. He's bringing it up because what he's saying is true. You need to take care of yourself physically before you can even hope to do the things you've set out to do. In that aspect, it's very true that Shuro hasn't taken things seriously enough if he still neglects his own health during his expedition.
