He didn't know his face, so he couldn't kill him even if he wanted to. I don't think the drawing is enough for the death note to work.

This episode hits very hard, as father Yagami dies believing his son is not Kira. 2023-12-10 03:48:15 +0000 UTCHe didn't have Misa kill Mello (even though they know his name) because she hasn't seen Mello's face. The police drawing probably isn't accurate enough to fit the "imagine the the face of whoever you want to kill" condition.
