"Sensei I love you" => round of applause

kinetic98

5:00 you ask if you can get hot drinks from vending machines: yeah they got heaters in their vending machines , there some vending machines that can squeeze fresh orange juice too. kinda futuristic, but at the same time they still use alot of newspaper and fax machines a lot over there

Kegs

I hope taki sensei didn't get cancelled after this

kinetic98

Looool she did

DrumRollTony

Hey, Reina said she wanted to be special, didnt she?

Lixien

you know its about to be a fire react when its 30 min long LETS GOO

Kegs

LOL ok

DrumRollTony

PS: I would've panicked if I were a teacher and a kid did that because this is sooo much of a "there's a bad and a worse solution, pick your poison" issue.

Back when I watched it during airing, my friend and I found Taki's response to be a good way of handling the situation, specially since most words for love in Japanese isn't necessarily romantic love. You can read it as: "Tousaka, thanks for liking me as a teacher, I thought everyone hated me to be honest" "But I really like you!" "Again, thanks for liking me as-a-teacher" We saw it as a good way to defuse a VEEERY CRINGE situation by acting in a way that not even acknologes her "confession" as a love confession, just as a praise to a professional. If she don't get the message, THEN you need the nuclear option of calling the mom to the faculty office with her homeroom teacher and "miss Kousaka, your kid have a problem..."

Mariana Roca

IT LOOKED real bad

DrumRollTony

There are always phrases that in certain contexts are difficult to translate, this is one of them. What Reina said could also be translated as: We love you or using the verb to-like. Few people realised what she really meant, the girls around her only understood it when she said it again to him, but Taki never understood it, but the subtitles make it look much worse than it is haha.

So basically the chant thingy, because they never got to nationals before they didn't even know getting a chant for the conductors' award was a thing lol Also, regarding the performance, you can find a full performance of the required piece (Wind of Provence) in the 2nd recap movie (May the Melody reach you). You can also find the full nationals performance of Crescent Moon Dance (the free choice piece that we heard for most of the anime) on spotify. I strongly believe you'll like to spot the differences there are between that one and the Kansai performance recording we heard in the middle of season 2 An edit concerning Reina screaming what she did at the award (just to clear out why Taki goes and talks to her and why Reina actually double downs on what she said) : I'm still in the process of learning japanese tbh, but the thing with "suki desu" (what she yelled - ๅฅฝใใงใ™-) is that it has multiple meanings. It can mean "I like that", "I like you", "I appreciate you", and the famed "I love you" (see one of the bands in the public yelled "seisei dai suki" - we love you for example). Because of context and situation Taki felt that he got words of support and apppreciation at that moment (probably, idk i'm extrapolating at this point), because the sentence "suki desu" has such a broad meaning. That's also probably why she reiterates later and says "atashi honto ni sensei no koto ga suki nan desu" (็งๆœฌๅฝ“ใซๅ…ˆ็”Ÿใฎใ“ใจใŒๅฅฝใใชใ‚“ใงใ™), which can be translated to "I really do love you" or "I love you for real". I'm not trying to clear her at all though lmao this is still mega weird, but there are some layers to understand the actions of the parties involved. Last edit, Tangent Tony is always awesome

That "NOOOOOO" killed me man LMAO By the way, as mentioned before, there is even more of Hibike Euphonium, there is the movie that comes after this season called "Liz to Aoi Tori" or "Liz and the Blue bird" which is a masterpiece in my opinion.

JackTheDaniels

The moment they were scrambling to come up with something to say to him I realized what she was gonna do and I'm glad that no one realized what she actually meant besides the students because oh my god I thought we left that awkwardness in the previous episode I can't believe she did that

Danyul

This "No-o-o-o!!!" at 18:01 is fucking gold. Hall of Fame of reactions, I guess.

d_swordfish

Aww Haruka really is my favourite, she's so sweet haha... Needed to balance with Asuka

Chris Hee

Your reaction to the teacher confession scene was pure gold. Every single word you spoke was facts man

Artemis Flow

Hi, since you asked for a reminder, I'll post this here this episode and next one. There are three more movies that continue the story directly, and are a bridge to the upcoming final season: 1. Liz and the Blue Bird 2. Sound! Euphonium: The Movie โ€“ Our Promise: A Brand New Day (Chikai no Finale) 3. Tokubetsuhen Hibike! Euphonium ~Ensemble Contest~ I'd really recommend watching them, if possible :)
