Just to clarify, I meant that I would have liked to see the episode in Japanese with English subtitles. No worries if you prefer English though. And yeah, it is kinda hard to watch due to the mismatch between the subtitles and what they are saying on screen. I've been watching anime for a long time and I reflexively read the subtitles. No worries if you want to keep the episode in dub and keep the subtitles on. I just thought i'd mention it.

One that is supposed to be used with the original japanese audio and another that transcribes the english AUDIO. With the latter enabled the dialogue should be exactly the same and not altered like it was this time.

2023-06-14 19:49:55 +0000 UTCI think it's more about how blatantly wrong the subtitles are. The subtitles aren't really displaying the right words. The general idea is getting across, but it might actually confuse non-native speakers by making them see and hear two different sentences.

It's different because you are using the subtitles that are used for translation from the original (Japanese), there's probably a " Closed Captions" version that are directly transcribed from the Eng dub. English (CC) or something like that, just like in YT.

2023-06-14 17:12:01 +0000 UTCThe difference in translation is because the subtitles are made for the Japanese version, whereas the translation for the dub audio is adapted to fit the mouth movements as well as it can.
