A tale of Banshee and CG's
Added 2020-05-17 07:35:22 +0000 UTCHey there! So, first and foremost, we’d like to thank everyone that voted in our last survey! We can see that most of you are open for us to take as long as we need to take to make new releases, and we are really happy to hear that. As for the timelines that we presented, most of you said that you preferred our releases to be once every two months. And, we do believe that two months is a great timeline for releases so our schedules are probably going to revolve around something along those lines.
Still, we do want to make a few more releases in the coming months, not only to give more value to all our patrons but also so we can continue to put our game out there and grow our community and support. So the next releases are most likely going to come out a bit faster than chapter 2, but don’t worry we have no intentions of sacrificing quality in order to get more releases in!
Now! We already plan our game around a one month structure, which while we don’t follow to the letter does help us to know what we can and can’t do until our self-imposed deadline. We’re still fine-tuning how exactly we carve up that month in order to deliver more of what you want to see. But, in order to get it right, we would like to hear from you guys!
The first order of business in our head is arguably the most important thing in the game: CG’s!
Banshee has been using 3 - 5 days to make every CG, although her given time is 4 days for each CG with all of its variants. Based on that she can get roughly 3 CG’s ready every 2 weeks. The other two weeks in our monthly structure are reserved for her to do new menus and interface for all the new mechanics we have planned, new outfits, and to make new characters and sprites. Based on that, let me outline two scenarios for your consideration:
1 - Keep as it is right now, 4 days per CG with roughly 3 CG’s every two weeks.
2 - Or we could increase Banshee’s allocated time to 6 days, allowing her to get only 2 CG’s done every two weeks. Now, that sounds bad I know. But, with two extra days to work on the CG, Banshee could be far more ambitious with the amount of detail she puts in each one, she could draw more characters, make more variants, and all that good stuff. Considering variants the number of CG’s might stay the same or even increase, but the number of scenes represented by these CG’s will most definitely drop.
We also considered reducing the time Banshee had to make every CG but she started to scream and almost drove me deaf, having big ears can be a nuisance sometimes. It seems like she is not comfortable in reducing the quality of her work, and I can’t really say I disagree with her on that. Could have done without the screaming though.
Still, as I said before, she is dedicating two weeks out of every month to drawing CG’s. We can always increase the number of weeks we allocate for her to work on CG’s but that will of course impact in other things. So, let me present two more scenarios for your consideration:
1 - Keep as it is right now, 2 weeks dedicated to CG’s, and two weeks dedicated to all the other art of the game.
2 - Banshee dedicates 3 weeks of the month to CG’s. No matter how long she spends on each CG that will increase the number of CG’s she can crank out. But, at the same time, it decreases the time she has to make new outfits, characters, and interfaces for new mechanics.
And that is it! This post ended up bigger than I expected so I’ll be brief now. We’re looking forward to hearing your opinions on this matter!
Big love, the Necro Bunny team.
