Apparently the lab had a very high ratings for offering free test experiments to people that could enhance their looks and combat capabilities. Wanting to catch up for Neptune, Nepgear nervously agreed to undergo the procedure.
However, during the process, a malicious program was installed into her system and began forcefully making changes against her will. Although her looks and performance had been greatly improved, the program had suppressed her cheerful personality and turning her into a heartless killing machine who performed biddings for the laboratory without questions.
