Ugh I hate being derailed . . . but you know, convention and all always derails me. Once again I'm gonna say I might be able to finish my draft of book 2 of Final Days of the White Flower II--I'm like literally at the finish line here, it's just a matter of putting it together somehow.

Several people have suggested this but haven't actually given clarification why this would be the case. It's my understanding that trans is a state of self-identity and not genitals, wheras what I'm proposing has to do with genitals and not self-identity. To conflate the two would be tantamount to saying that a trans person who fully transitions ceases being trans and becomes cis. (I mean, perhaps ideally that would be the case but so far as I can tell that's not how the identity works)

2018-10-23 02:21:24 +0000 UTCIn one of the above posts you mention wanting to have characters whose genitals deviate from their culturally presented gender, but (understandably) don't like vulgar terms like "cuntboy" and "dickgirl". (I do know some people who self-identify as "dickgirls", but only in certain types of company.) You rule out "intersex" (correctly), and then suggest "altersex". But I think you can really just use the word "trans" to describe this (or specify "trans man", "trans woman"), as the vast majority of trans people have genitals that don't match their chosen gender. (Surgery to change genitals is very expensive and quite rare.)
