Sophie O.G. Re-draw

If you will indulge me for a moment, I would like to go back and revisit an original character of BrasByDesign - Sophie. It's something that I have had on the list for a long, long time, but somehow, other ideas spring up and I never seem to get the chance to bring Sophie up to date. So, here we are...

So, what's the big deal with Sophie? Well, she has multiple big deals, if you get what I mean. In all seriousness though, firstly, she has been the BrasByDesign avatar for... as long as I can remember. Somebody with a good memory might be able to offer a better answer, but for a good while, those flowing locks of lush red hair and the heavily engorged cups of that huge beige, full-cup bra have been the figurehead for BBD.

Secondly, Sophie sums up the main qualities that BrasByDesign has tried to promote over the years, believe it or not. Some of my earliest works focus not only on the physical and constructional challenges of producing lingerie for such well-bosomed women, but also highlighting the beauty and excitement that can be found in the purposeful nature of plus-cup bras. We looked at some key features of this unconventtional allure in 'Full Cup and Frumpalicious', but, to this day, many men and women still associate big, functional bras as 'unsexy' or 'ugly', believing the common trope that sexy should be small. I have always wanted to challenge that opinion, or at the very least, offer an alternative view and promote some plus-cup positivity at the same time. The creaking straps, the overspill, the indentations in the shoulders - they are all part of the theatre, and part of the story.

Those thick, wide straps and the rows and rows of hooks, combined with the huge, reinforced panels of enormous cups, are the sign of a feminine figure so fantastic, so exceptional, that a regular garment could never satisfy. Nothing quite compares to the tantalising sight of a gigantic pair of crease-free cups stuffed with an incredulous swell of full, heaving breasts. Sophie herself puts it best, "What makes a huge bra sexy? Being able to fill it, of course...",

What makes a huge bra even sexier? Over-filling it, for sure - however, that is a story for another day...
