quick note to Patreon patrons

Thank you.

I was thinking today about what a great story First Song is, and how good of a book it will be when it's published.  This got me thinking about all the factors that led to its creation, and one of them is definitely you guys.

Being on Patreon has helped me a ton creatively.  To be honest, the money is nice, but not everything.  I could probably write faster and make more money if I didn't have a Patreon to maintain.  In fact, some other indie authors pretty much don't engage very often on Patreon for this exact reason.

However, I can still remember the first $2 I made on Patreon back when I was writing Delvers LLC online.  I did a happy dance, and I will always remember that moment--to stay humble if nothing else.  While I am proud of what I've accomplished so far, I'd just be a weirdo with an active imagination and slightly better than average English skills without you all.

Not only that, I am a reader.  In fact, it was my love of reading that motivated me to start writing commercially, finally pulling the trigger on a life-long dream.  Well...actually, frustration with jLit had some part of it too, but we won't go there.

The point is, I am a geek, and a reader, and love stories just as much as all of you.  You are my tribe, and interacting with all of you, being friends with you, it really motivates me to be consistent.

Ultimately, your support on here is a gift.  It's voluntary.  The fact you all believe in me inspires me to continue polishing my craft and to grow creatively.  See, I am aware I could just write...random stuff...and the folks who buy my work on Amazon that I never interact with will probably keep reading it, and still never review one way or the other.  They are the silent majority.

You all are the folks I actually hear from, who leave reviews, and your input is more valuable than gold.  Feedback is really important to keep growing as an author, but the /right kind/ of feedback is critical.  Bad feedback is worse than none.  Hell, bad feedback almost destroyed my budding writing career before I'd even published.

So again, I want to give you all a sincere thank you.  You have my deepest gratitude for joining me on this ride, and I feel very fortunate to have so many people hanging out with me, having a beer on this runaway cart to God-knows-were.

PS - I have not forgotten about the folks who are waiting on books...for months.  I suck, I know.  Luckily, I am getting help at the end of the month and should be able to finally make all that stuff right.
