Sketchidysketch and Updates

So much stuff to cover, so let's just get right into it.

First, just a casual character portrait for Keira. Nothing much about it, except that it's the first image I included her little locket in, and the A&S Logistics logo on her overall. I stole the idea of having a little display projector mounted to the chest from Dead Space, since I feel it makes plenty of structural sense  - out of the immediate way, but within range of your vision if you need it.

Next we have the greyscale (and first sketch) versions of the "Memories" series I posted yesterday. This is before any of the angle/cropping changes of the finished versions. I'm also experimenting with keeping greyscales a little more in the mid levels, since putting in colors in overlay darkens them plenty, and I can always adjust them to be darker or brighter with an adjustment layer. It gives me a little more freedom to define areas of bright and dark, though one of the downsides is, it requires me to detail things a lot more - still something to put work into.
Either way, I'm really happy with how Eric turned out in these. He's got that blend of wirey, but defined I imagined he should have. I'm not exactly sure what specifically it is he does in Lawson, but given the remote nature of the place, he's probably responsible for a couple' things at the same time.

Next we have a whole lot of big people stuff.

First, a return customer, RetroInferno. He wanted some more specific definition sketches of his Hellcats, and some variations on horns for them. Nothing super special, but definitely your usual macro tropes of maws and paws Xb

Then we have someone new entering the big people space, Fluffcat.
He'd apparently been toying with the idea of a macro species for a while, and we sat down the other week and did some exploration on a wolverine.

First he wanted to see whether a straight or hunched physiology suited him more. The thick tail was added to both versions for a bit of a more monster-y look, so it wouldn't just be an unnaturally scaled up wolverine. Horns were also tried, but eventually discarded.

He knew he wanted earthy tones for colors that leaned onto the actual patterning of wolverines, but he also wanted something that touched on the feline family, so we tested spots and stripes, with the latter winning out in the end.

The scale pov was something a chatgroup buddy of his apparently wanted and Fluff obliged for a surprise. As simple as it looks, it actually turned out to be surprisingly difficult to draw such an extreme angle - and yes, I'm fairly convinced I could have done better on that. Something feels off about the proportions, but no matter what I tried while sketching, it felt like it was looking worse whenever I tried to correct for what I thought was wrong. If this is what people are gonna be commissioning off of me in the future, I'm gonna have to do a lot more studies of ultra low angle bodies apparently o.o

Next are just silly human interaction doodles with the wolverine. She doesn't have a name yet, so that's what I'm gonna continue to referr to her as for the time being X3
Much like the big mammals in Zootopia, I imagine macros would be immensely useful in construction and logistics. Who needs a crane when you can have your 50' friend lift both you and your supplies to where you need them?
Of course, using them for a gigantic, fuzzy camp site or getting to swing between their car-sized breasts is probably also gonna be an experience XD

Fluff puts a lot of thought into this worldbuilding, which I very much appreciate, so he's busy figuring out how the big people make weapons and tools and such things. A humongous copper sheet stuffed into a tree trunk should work as a nice knife - bonus points if you have smol human friends that can decorate it for you to look pretty.

Finally my friend Kira approached me about wanting to make a visual reference guide for canine cookies. She actually provided me with some crude MSpaint doodled refs with what specifically she was looking for in each one as distinguishing parts and that helped a good bit in the production process. She even had names for the different shapes, which I thought was hilarious X3

Anyway, she hopes it'll serve as an artistic support tool for those primarily feral lewd artists in the future, and I'm happy to help on that front :3

That actually concludes the upload cycle for this month. I have nothing else to showcase for now and I doubt I'll get to doodle anything worth showing today, as I'm likely going to be busy with house stuff. All in all though, I'm happy with my output. Plenty of variation and fun topics.

I did not expect to be this heavy on the macros (haha) with customers, but I suppose every niché is vying for artists to populate their market. I still maintain that I'm trying not to get pigeonholed too much, but at least for the time being, my macro customers have been the sort I'm comfortable working with, so I expect there to be more big people art in the future, alongside my usual stuff.

I'm hoping to get the discord server started by the end of the week at the latest. That'll be my focus for the time being anyway, so long as nothing else immensely pressing comes up.

T3's, don't forget the "Finish This Imish" poll is running until tomorrow evening. If you want to put in a vote, now's your chance.

Also, there's two more polls due to happen after this upload, so everybody else please also keep your eyes peeled for that prompt (though those votes will run until monday next week, so it's not quite as pressing).

I feel negativity gnawing at the back of my head again, so I hope you're at least all doing okay. The world's a messed up place these days and it doesn't look like it's due to get any better, so keep your ears straight.

LYA~

I love the outfit you have Keira wearing there in the first image. It’s like a nice portrait or a regular person. Very nice!

Goodness those macro pictures are just perfect. Who doesn't love a big friendly "stompy" as they were called. Also, the way you draw fur and fluff *falls in love*. Something else that really catch my eye is that good stretch in the doorway, they are soooo underestimated, they are so good! And the fluff, i just wanna burry my face in it! I'll say it a hundred more times if needed! Give ze fluffz!

Oh, that's a lot of pictures. I like the idea of the projector. Some of those macro-doodles are quite funny. I particularly like the one where she's lifting up the roof of a house. And yeah, I can't deny that a breast-adjacent seat like that is something I wouldn't mind experiencing :) I like it when the macro-normal interactions are cute/funny like this and not all... "stompy". Don't let the negativity get to you! <3
