The last completed images of 2022 coming in a little late, cuz I'm a lazy (and forgetful) sod.

I forget the character's name, but I remember being rather pleased with the sketchydoodle of Sandow's african wild dog character - first one I've drawn to my knowledge too, despite them actually being a very interesting species and having a very distinct anatomical structure (at least as far as the head shape goes). Nice to get to do some slice-of-life stuff from time to time.

And finally, we go out with a bang (haha). Tankana commissioned me for another intimate thing between one of their characters and one of AbyssalDemon's.
I don't have a lot to say on the image contents, as I have little knowledge of either character, but I do have plenty to say on the actual visuals of this thing, as it's me finding my way back to a look I actually enjoy in my lined art, something you'll remember I've been complaining about for a while now.
So as I said in my public post, I checked out the work file of one of my older works, back from when I was still happy with what I was producing and looked at how the different image elements were constructed and it turned out I'd adopted a different approach from how I used to do it back then without even realizing.
What I used to do was have shading on a 80 - 100% multiplication layer with a white fill, into which I would then sketch the shading with 50% grey and then intensify/lessen where needed with brighter or darker greys. The white fill is to facilitate the wet paint brush of PS so it has something to blend the grey with, as blend-to-naught doesn't work (properly - it does blend, but the technicality of what exactly happens makes it undesirable).
Anyway, somewhere in the last ... three(?) years I'd switched over to using a 50% multiplication layer and a 20 - 30% addition layer to do shading and lighting on, which I'd done for some stylistic experiments, but for some reason then incorporated into my mainline style, leaving out the wet brush. I'm sure I had my reasons at the time, but it still baffles me that it never occured to me to switch back to my old way of doing things when I was beginning to be unhappy with what I was producing - I blame the 'rona 9_9
Whatever, anyway. I hope to see an increase in linearts I'm happy with again in the future. Honestly, I enjoy painting my images a lot, but linework is still valuable to me aswell, both emotionally and artistically, but I suppose a proper discussion on what I like more about either one or the other warrants a post all to itself =w=
