Pool! Alpha Releases for 2021.
Added 2021-01-09 00:45:05 +0000 UTCHello, my lovely Patrons!
This is a tier 3+ post only.
Today, I wanna ask you guys a single question:
How do you want me to release new alphas on Patreon for 2021:
There's three choices there, and your choice will affect how Alphas are released from March and onward.
There are some choices there, and your choice will affect how Alphas are released from March and onward.
1: I Should release constant alphas every two or three weeks with any new content as possible.
- This choice means that whenever I have a route completed (A route doesn't mean the entire day, just one of the main clusters of texts are done, for example, 1st act part 1. Each act is as route and every route ends with a choice with the exception of the answer routes, those end, and moves on to the next route they need to. This means I could release constant alphas, but also means that the content added would be way minor than what I've been doing, at a point where an alpha 0.25 would have multiple small additions such as 0.25.1, 0.25.5, and so on... This could also give me the option of asking you guys what route you want updated every month, instead of working on the entire day for a character I can add a piece of it for Karnal if you vote him or Wagner or even [REDACTED] new character. This means a more controlled envrioment to myself, makes work easy on me too and give you guys some control of what I should be writting every two or three weeks! That's also the option I personaly like more.
2: I Should focus on adding the new PLOT routes for days one and two with both routes.
- The PLOT routes only start happening on day 2 or more. They only can be accessed with a perfect S class count. There's only one PLOT scene per day with each character and on those routes, you will learn more about the character you're pursuing. However, to get an S-Class route, you need to focus only on one character since it's impossible to get this kind of route without having max points all the time with him. PLOT routes should belong, they are packed with dialogs and situations from the player and the character's life. Each character will have a different thing for you to learn about Aiden so, do understand the protagonist fully, you need to play all the character's routes with perfection. I'm currently avoiding writing those because they need to be perfectly done, that being said I can start them if you guys want more plot.
3: I should focus on creating the 3 first days for the next unreleased character and add it even if he doesn't have a sprite yet.
- The next character is named [REDACTED], he's a lovely [REDACTED] and has a different personality than Karnal or Wagner. He's the only original character for this game and his route will be the most complex out of the three. This means that his questions will often be tricky, you will never know what to answer and any response from him even those that seem good can be the wrong one. He has a poker face, and he does know how to fake a smile (maybe ;)). His design is not yet ready since we are focusing on Backgrounds and some Bonding Scenes in the Artwork department, but if you're interested in him, he can be added with a placeholder and you can meet him. This means that instead of writing the 4th day, I'm gonna stop that and start the 1st day with [REDACTED] instead. Ah, and he's the only character I plan to make a switch, meaning that eventually, I'll make a pool for you guys to decide what you want him to be. A bottom or a top? Or maybe if the artist doesn't cry too much about it, a truly switch depending on what you choose by the end. Who knows?!
4: I should continue only releasing alphas when an entire day is done (nothing changes).
- This is the way I'm working right now. It was fast at the start of development, but now, it's being hard to write the days. Not only do I need to keep track of what happened between characters and the player I also need to be sure not to create an inconsistency between the days. This means that alpha can take from one to three months to be released. And no, it's not because I don't have time to do them it's because I'm a perfectionist. If a day is not good, I do it all over again, and again, and again. Put that with the fact I need to make repeated places to be different, for example, Karnal cannot have a similar scene on the pool as Wagner had AND the same can be said for Wagner on the bar. By choosing this you guys are saying that it's okay for me to not worry that much about not releasing alphas all the time, you guys want good content delivered all at once, even if it takes some time for me to cook everything up.
5: I should focus on new music, sound effects, and other quality of life updates for the game engine FIRST, then work more on routes.
- This choice means I should be focusing more on finding assets, creating assets, or buying assets for the game (if possible). The game already has a layout where I can add sound effects to make some moments more comic for example. This means I would have to revise every day to know WHEN to add those sound effects after I find and add them. This would also mean that the next alpha will be released with a more robust game engine first. This choice also means I would be exploring adding some animations for the character portraits such as their eyes blinking. THIS NEEDS time to be applied to the game because this will change some code there. (Only chose this if you're certain more story is not what you want right now because to look for this I will have to spend some time out of the writing scene).
6: I should wait to release alphas ONLY when all assets for those routes including bonding scenes are done and added to the game.
- This one is the most radical one. It means I will ONLY add a new alpha when all Backgrounds, Cutscenes, and sound effects (if they are added to the game) are in place. This could take up to five to six months just to add a bunch of stuff at once. To choose this choice means literally the alphas would take a long time to be done and it would mean you guys staying here and helping me while I work, but without having too much to play. This is also how many other VN projects work: They only release alphas or demos when there's a lot of content added to the game.
I want you all to remember before answering this pool that I'm not working with other people, I code, write, and set up every single stuff you see on screen. Some of those choices can speed up the alphas with a lot of little additions, while others can make the alphas to take a LONG time to be released. Keep that in mind.
I will start applying whatever you guys vote here in march, so this pool will be available until February's end. Thank you all for your patience.
Note: If there's a draw on the vote by the end I'll choose the best choice by my point of view.
