Tiger girl redraw + Devlog #119 + Monstergirl poll #44 is on!

Tiger girl!
There are very few monstergirls left to be redesigned/redrawn, but she was one of them!
As always Bee did a banger job!!! She's quite a bit more buff than in her older sprite, which makes a lot of sense considering her muscular mod. I'm just not that great at muscles, her arms in particular were lacking. Just look at how cool she looks now! I'm so happy ^^
The design is basically the same as before! She just looks a lot better in every aspect, and her pose has been improved!
I hope you'll like her! Next time will be a new girl ^^

Last month was pretty wild for me! It felt even busier than usual. I was especially busy with advertising and communication, but also updated the game a few times, and more!
I'll actually be updating the build one more time later today on every platform, and Lunlun (Tiger girl)'s default sprite will be updated in game!

Other changes are mostly QoL. Here are all of them:

Lunlun (Tiger girl)'s default sprite has been updated

Notes can be closed by pressing Enter

Slightly lowerzs Nightmare and Myasine's summon speed

Slightly increased cast time for Myasine's Sporinid spell

Edited a few chest's content in Sablee / Sablee ocean

Auria hidden walls make a noise > Fixed

Fish puzzle door leads up instead of down > Fixed

Made alma flash and play an SFX at the same time as a page if one is in the same room (only important tuto page)

Slightly improved the Gear puzzle explanation

Improved various tuto pages

The hint button now plays an SFX when it appears

Added more text for Heart carrots

Added a next task button in the exploration UI

Shell count puzzle buttons now reset and play a better SFX after failing (no need to leave and come back)

Fei portals now give an item warning if necessary

Simplified Fei petal puzzles by improving petal and pellet placement to make them more intuitive

Added a sign in Eveii's alchemy room mentioning alchemy is unavailable until she comes back

Added a sign to explain save rooms

Added signs to warn of the pit

Added a sign explaining character select in the Biscotti save room

Added a party event during festival which triggers if the player didn't play every minigame

Giraffe shapes now have a visual warning and a small delay before they show up from the bottom of the screen

Slightly updated the hint text for the shell count puzzle and the fish puzzle

Reduced the exploration area before finding Eveii (it turns out the reason it comprised so much of Sablee was to give access to the save room from the get go, but there isn't much of a point to it that early)

There have been more changes earlier in January with the following changes as well, in case you missed it:

XP gain don't get lower through using My turn anymore

Added Patch up to a forest chest

Added hint events for gear puzzle to re explain what's on the sign

Make single click movement the default

Prevented Jelly spawn in ocean B1F hub puzzle rooms

Updated almanach portrait for Cerelea, Lamia and Imp

Added "A door has opened" text on B1F ocean lever in top room (more notices such as this will be added later)

Moved UI overview 2 page to fish puzzle room

Simplified right chunk of ocean 1F

Added Liv to the last room

Added patch up spell to an ocean chest along with a How to equip items sign

Added a new Battle tips tuto page in ocean B1F

Updated non interactable shell colors, shells in shell count puzzle are now non interactable

Updated post pit puzzle slightly

"Hold right click" text + image during first Veomea

Made the first hint event a party event (first Fei petal puzzle). This party event gives the Color guide if it wasn't already picked up

I don't think any of these are really worth going into details about, they're mainly small changes, QoL, and often intended to make the ocean more accessible and faster to go through. It used to be the final and only dungeon in the old demo, so I somewhat built it to last, and I considered it finished in my mind. But now that it's the actual first dungeon of the game and more or less a tutorial, things needed to change! I might update it further in the future.
Other than that, of course, I got busy with releasing the demo! It went public near the start of the month on Itchio and some other spots, and then finally on Steam about 2 weeks later! The delay was due to Steam application review failing because some things weren't in order. After taking care of these, BEW finally got accepted! It's a very strange feeling to launch the game through Steam ^^
The good news is that no matter where you play the game, the saves are compatible with different platforms. Not just that, but there shouldn't be a need to transfer saves manually like before now! Even this new upcoming QoL update should update saves from the previous build as needed. Cool stuff!

I don't remember if I talked about the trailer before. It was a bit of a wild time (but went really well), and things really just didn't let up after that. Advertising was relatively new to me, I prepared a lot of clips and character pictures to post regularly on social medias, sent a bunch of emails and did my best to stay on top of things. Several people streamed/made a video about BEW or spread the word in other ways, and I'm really, really grateful for that. Thank you so much!!! It's a huge help, and it means a lot to me ^^

I would also like to thank Mason (who you might know if you've been in the Discord server) and the playtesters once again! BEW currently uses GameMaker 1.4, which is very obsolete by now. Mason has been helping me by working on a GameMaker 2 port and has been making amazing progress. Not only will this port optimize the game itself in many ways, it will also improve and accelerate development in the future! For instance, the game takes about 4 minutes to compile with gm1.4, but only a minute and a half with gm2! Really good stuff ^^

I've also contacted several more artists to help with the game, and things went surprisingly well this time! We'll see how things go on that front long term, but I'm optimistic ^^
I actually found the time to design one new monstergirl too. It was one of the ones I had some doubts about, but she turned out really well! Very happy about that. I can't wait to reveal her and others once they're ready ^^

I believe this is a pretty good summary... I've barely had any time for myself in the end and my hair is still way too long. I'm also sick currently, but getting better. I'll keep advertising this month, but things are calming down and I'll probably be designing a lot of monstergirls this time and focusing on more non code related game things generally. I do need to take some actual time for myself for IRL things as well (for real this time).

The poll will be active until the 12th of this month. After this, you will be able to change your submitted modifiers until the 15th. Finally, the two rounds of the modifier poll will take one week each afterwards.
