Act XV complete, and Morningstar now on Steam

With that done, there's only one Act left of Love of Magic, Act XVI: Eternal Summer.
So... what's next?
The first, and obvious thing, is of course Morningstar.

The Steam Page is now available as "coming soon", but realistically it'll probably be somewhere in the late fall before I release it. I'll be doing Early Access this time, with a planned two (out of five) Act complete at early access launch. If you want to help give it a helping hand, the *most* effective thing you can do to help it right now, is give it a wishlist, and let your friends know.
As always, any Patreons that want a Steam key for the work in progress, let me know!
Apart from that, I have dreams of a New Game+ functionality, which will allow you to load the end of Book 3 save into Book 1, and start the game with additional resources, and some additional events unlocking. That'll be a fun little side-project as I work.
Apart from that I have 3 big releases for Book 3 before it's done; I'm starting work on Act XV+, which will deal with kingdom events in Book 3, and add more side-content + combat options in Elsewhere. Then Act XVI, and finally the epilogue, which will also add things like achievements.
It's been an amazing journey; a huge thanks to all of you for your support, and for helping motivate me and keep me sane.

I have played the content of morningstar that is there and I have to say you are off to a good start with another great story, it was a bit weird seeing familair characters with new backgrounds and experiences but I am sure that will fade in no time. The new battle system also takes time to adjust to, I kind of miss the poker battles, I am very interested in where this story goes especially the possible romance if it is supposed to be a romance between the mc and the angel that looks like princess pendragon. keep up the great work

I know we are early in the Beta (?) so I have a few thoughts to share in case they are not already on your radar: A stats tab with an explanation of what each stat does for the MC; consider a 'lore' page where what the MC knows/learns is added to a lore tab he can pull up on his tech device (a second app along side facial) - there is a lot going on early in the story and it will take time to bring up new players to speed and keep regulars like me from stopping to do screenshots to create my own lore resource. It will give better immersion and I think this story will take years to tell so great early story lore does not fade into time as a year or two RL go by; some way to assess power levels of creatures encountered (the card mechanic worked perfectly for this in LOM). This could even be a skill that the MC needs to learn so he does not underestimate creatures who's aura he can penetrate. Perhaps this is only revealed in actual combat but this would still be a nice feature.

2023-04-28 00:06:19 +0000 UTCI probably would yes, but then again I remember the days when 1080p on a 20" or larger monitor was the best you could get, and honestly it was pretty good. I believe there are tools to help reduce the image size, and the overall reduction in apk size can be impressive, but I have to admit I dont know how much work that involves. But at the end of the day Im just happy if there is a viable android version, at any resolution.

2023-04-26 05:27:03 +0000 UTCIt will be fun (and a bit sad) to see LoM wrap up. Morningstar looks interesting and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes. I like the idea of the Puzzle Quest like combat mechanic...though I hope it does not mean we are running around with a hidden heart shaped locket. It could use stronger color contrast and shape definition between the different gems/mana. It's a little tough on the eyes right now (my eyes anyway).

Because Ive got to be honest, with phone and tablet screen sizes being what they are, (I use a Samsung S7+ tablet with an 11" screen,) there isnt much point giving us higher res images, Most video I watch on youtube is fine at 720p, even 480p isnt too bad if the wifi is a bit dodgy.

2023-04-25 17:10:05 +0000 UTCI know wills747 has an all in one version of motherless which would otherwise be three seperate seasons, that has been fitted into a 264mb apk and a 3gb archive.rpa file. You install the apk first and it then tells you where to put the rpa file, usually the game folder in the second save location folder. Estrada777 has an all in one version of pale carnations. I think wills747 has more of these than esteada777, I dont know who started doing them but the first one I noticed was by wills747. For more technical details I would suggest contacting either of them on discord.

2023-04-25 17:03:46 +0000 UTCWhich ones? I'd be curious to see what their solution ends up being. The 'industry standard' is to just host it on a server and download the first time. At that point there's no size restrictions; I'd need to do a bit of engineering to get that working, but it's not terrible. The problem of course is that now instead of hosting on Mega or GoFile I've got to pay to host it myself, and hosting 15GB+ worth of content for each player isn't cheap. The other way I've seen it done is to have dedicated "download" apps, that just copy their content across, and then a final app that uses the content. It's obvioulsy a much more manual task, and more error-prone. It also requires me to do a lot of re-engineering. In the end, LoM's just gotten quite huge; Book 3 is 7GB+ now, and will get larger still before it's done. I'm not sure it's a great fit for Android even if I get it running.

There's 150+ script functions that would need to be rewritten from scratch, and the bugs that would create scares me :) But for Morningstar I'm doing it from the beginning, so... makes it more manageable .
