2025 Content Survey

Hello everyone!

I wanted to do this again, as the one from a couple of years ago was quite successful.

The concept is quite simple, please post your top four choices for the stuff you are interested in most. It can be from my plans, and stuff that might be airing at the moment.

You can find a list of the stuff I am interested in covering here - https://www.patreon.com/c/filmbuff/about

Severance and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End are locked in as the next two in line, so they don't have to be included in your Top Four picks.

Edit - I assure you, both EVA and Vinland Saga are going to be completed, I'm not treating those as something that has to be selected again.

I will use the results to gauge options for future polls, and consider the top picks as a part of my plans as I move forward.

Thank you!

Comments

Monogatari and Kaiji would be really good, i know these are on your list, but let's be real, i don't think you'll get around watching them, or not in the near future.

Waltuh

May be a bit selfish of me, but i would love to see a reaction to berserk 1997. Though, i have to agree it may be better as a solo watch

Addy Cop

I would add Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 wich is an anime adpatation of some Fujimoto's one shots. It's 8 episodes long and each story is animated by a different studio. It aired yesterday so is very new. PD: The name is "17-26" because Fujimoto wrote those stories between those ages.

Madani

I'm a month late so not sure if this pinned post is still applicable but I'll give my two cents anyway! • Dorohedoro (I think it has some interesting elements) • Serial Experiments Lain (a lot more to crunch on and discuss, I think it would be a good discussion-focused series maybe?) • Berserk (1997) (timeless and just enough substance to discuss, but maybe better as a solo watch, Im) • Avatar: The Last Airbender (also great and I think this would work especially if you are able to watch it a little bit faster than one episode per week but maybe there is enough to discuss here for it to be weekly. It's been a long time since I watched it but it's probably similar to FMA:B w.r.t. pacing?) Special mention: I'm not fully caught up on all your reactions/updates yet so I'm not sure if you mentioned you got around to JJK Season 2 or the movie yet but I'd love to see your reactions to Season 2 if you are up to it!!! Good luck Im! So much media you can pick from. Take care.

adamadam63

1. Sonny Boy I think that Sonny boy has the philosophical, open-ended storytelling that is just perfect for this channel. 2. Ergo Proxy 3. Arcane S2 4.Better Call Saul

Buh

Just saw rezero being mentioned a lot , would love to see that

Jd

1.Death Parade!(i think you would love this one definitely a lot you could talk about in discussions) 2.Bojack Horseman (one of my favourite shows that starts off seeming like a comedy but ends up being such a dark show that explores so many topics)3. I was going to say code geass but I understand your reasons for not being interested , 4. Haikyuu

Jd

Xenogears is one of my all time fave games 👌🏼 I still have to play the xenoblade series on Switch. I grew up on the PlayStation, so I never really played much Nintendo stuff, other than Pokemon on the handhelds. I do have the Switch Oled and Switch 2. Breath of the Wild Switch 2 edition is high on my list of video projects.

FILMBuFF

It’s just Steins;Gate at the moment. I’m working on finishing some unfinished projects and then implementing a full on new upload schedule in the coming months.

FILMBuFF

Sorry if this is off-topic, but what does the Monster schedule look like? Cant wait for whatever you do next!

Christian Klippert

Interview with the vampire (AMC 2022) (really complex characters and dynamics, great storytelling, gothic horror) Twin Peaks (i think you could have a blast trying to figure out what’s going on, it’s filled w symbolism, there’s an order in which to watch the seasons and movies, someone better than me could tell you) Succession (modern classic television, scummy and interesting characters) Puella magi madoka magica (super interesting, messed up and pretty short anime series though there are also movie, feel like it could be up your alley, don’t wanna reveal too much abt it) Oh and definitely serial experiments lain, intrigued to see what you will think about it ❤️

Penny

1. Mob Psycho 100 2. Berserk (1997) after these two I can't say I feel as strongly about the other options, since I have been wanting to watch most of these myself. I guess I'm glad I didn't have to think about this too hard! I will be so arrogant however to at least put out this foolish wish of mine of you sharing your thoughts on the game Xenogears (PS1) for its' incredibly ambitious and heartfelt storytelling (kinda famously).. and if a ps1 game is too cumbersome/unstreamlined, then I recommend Xenosaga Episode 1 Der Wille zur Macht on ps2, not exactly the same (spiritual successor) but the writer remains the same, being the game directors' wife (tho this IS the last xeno game she would be writing for, which means the subsequent spiritual successor, the xeno-BLADE series isn't written AS tightly.. generally at least) so if you want something even more streamlined/modern/recent then I'd recommend the said xenoblade series on switch/switch 2 (xenoblade 4, or at least the studio behind the xeno series will be releasing their next jrpg on switch 2 in about 2 years time which will guarantee more "interest" for the series if that matters), either play the most recent one of the trilogy, 3 (without the amazing dlc story expansion cuz of spoilers for 1 and 2) or the recommended chronological order of 1, 2 and 3, as 3 does spoil some things of 1 and 2, but not enough arguably and it is still extremely standalone, despite it being a sequel and all... espescially since it's all about the t h e m e s in this one particularily, instead of lore and worldbuilding, rather such things are used as thematic devices themselves (so, in a way at least, there is no lore lol) still xenogears, then xenosaga 1-3, then the xenoblade series would be my recommended order (order of release, but also makes you "get" the thematic parallels between the series' more).. altho blade 2 and 3 espescially are really good, I think they simply can't quite match the consistent heights of xenosaga and xenogears espescially in terms of storytelling/writing/character writing.. but hey, I am no writer (yet!) and I am juuust a bit biased as you might be able to tell by the wall of text but LET ME COPE DAMN IT love your stuff man, its' good.

Akash Chaudhry

Hey look, I'm very late to the party! As you know I only have one request, which is and will always be, until you cover it, The Haunting of Hill House. For Halloween season 🥲

I’ve seen a few mentions of Code Geass, so I thought I should mention that it’s not something I’m interested in.

May I have a suggestion? If you plan a big poll with 12 shows for example. It would be better to have another one with same shows that got most votes and after that another one (final poll with 2-4 shows) This way you eliminate popular vote, trending vote and get the show your subscribers prefer the most.

Money Gambler

Ping Pong the Animation The Expanse Mob Psycho Violet Evergarden

Dan c

1. Monogatari 2. Welcome to the N-H-K 3. Ergo Proxy 4. Andor

Gromzi

If I have to pick one then Re:Zero is my choice. It´s from 2016 still ongoing and growing in popularity as time goes on.

Money Gambler

1. Lord of Mysteries (Chinese "anime" airing right now) 2. Re:Zero ( from your list, must watch, new season incoming, ongoing WN LN) 3. Mushoku Tensei ( from your list, a bit controversial) These 3 are one of the highest rated web novels / light novels and have same genre or subgenre called isekai. 4. Kaiji (from your list)

Super hyped for Frieren and Severance coming later into the mix! Looking at the top 12 picks so far and they're all honestly great imo! If I have to pick 4 between them, then it'd probably be: 1. Arcane S2 2. Mob Psycho 100 3. Psycho-Pass 4. Better Call Saul (I'm still at season 2, but I'm sure the whole series is great) Arcane's probably my top pick, but that's due to it being the shortest of the bunch. As others have said here, I also think it'd be great to finish up Arcane in general before moving on to something else. Psycho-Pass is my second top pick, would be a good show to follow up something like Monster. Only problem with Psycho-Pass is that almost everyone (me included) only watches and discuss the first season, so if it does get on a poll, I'm not sure whether you wanna do the whole series or not.

mattragel

Better Call Saul and Berserk

Mobin Shah

Shōgun is a masterpiece. It will command every emotion from you.

Shane Cardwell

So many good shows yet I'd be most of all interested to see you continue your journey with Arcane before something new, especially since you already enjoyed the first season.

nut

Oh man, lots of good options - I'll vote for Psycho-Pass, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Haikyu!!, and Made in Abyss

Who Really Cares

I would probably say: Andor, Better Call Saul, Avatar, and Breath of the Wild!!

Top 12 picks at the moment Mob Psycho 100 Better Call Saul Made in Abyss Fate/Zero Arcane S2 Monogatari Re:Zero Orb Cowboy Bebop Andor Avatar Psycho-Pass

FILMBuFF

Avatar the last airbender, Arcane season 2, Psycho-pass and Andor.

Cameron Rickard

My main three picks are: 1. Re:Zero 2. Bakemonogatari 3. Orb: On the movements of the Earth I think you would absolutely love the mystery elements of Re:Zero, given your propensity to theorize about the world-building (Nearly on Red has predicted many aspects of the Re:Zero world/plot as an anime-only watcher, and I think you would have a lot of fun trying to do the same). The story can get rather theatrical in terms of its presentation sometimes (as in grandiose gestures or performative voice-acting), which although rare can be a turn-off for some people I think (I personally love the style). At its core, Re:Zero is a beautiful and delicate exploration of love and character. Others have already talked in-depth about Monogatari, so I won't say much but basically the directing style is just utterly unique (especially if you haven't seen other Shaft anime before like Puella Magi Madoka Magica). As a bonus, it'd be super cool if you reacted to "Baccano!" as it's a favorite of mine that doesn't get much love in the reacting sphere. It's a supernatural, prohibition-era story told in a non-linear fashion following different characters whose paths eventually intersect. I think it'd be right up your alley, although I understand if it's too niche for a reaction.

Raymond Chang

Belated need to change my number one pick to Monogatari after the pleasure of seeing how many chose it. Honestly one of my favourite stories of any medium. So much depth and the sort of clever direction and animation/film making techniques I think you would love.

Balurion

I don't think I have words to convey just how excited I am to see that both of my favorite shows in recent memory, Severance and Frieren, are locked in and upcoming! I hope you have been doing well dude, I look forward to all that is to come and to hear your thoughts :-)

Surleaux

I think certain references and character appearances will have more weight with a rewatch of the original trilogy (especially "A New Hope").

Bruno

Oh man, I’ve got a decision to make, eh! do I watch the Chainsaw Man movie in theatres, or make a video for it once it drops ? Though even if I watched it in theatres, I would still make a full on review video for it 👌🏼

FILMBuFF

Question about Andor Is Rogue One the only movie I need to rewatch for this ? Or would a full Star Wars (original and prequel trilogy) rewatch be beneficial ?

FILMBuFF

It really surprised me how much intrested people were in Monogatari, Orb and Made in Abyss, both great animes. Mob Psycho i kinda expected it. Also, really glad that some people mentioned Legend of the galactic heroes, one can dream that some day it could happen.

Madani

Monogatari series and Fate/Zero

Merlindchan

Streaming is definitely something I’ve been interested in for a long time, but just haven’t had the right timing for that entry point. Once I get a flow going here and YouTube again, I certainly want to explore that idea.

FILMBuFF

Thank you for taking part! I’ve been tallying the results so far, and there are about eight options that come up quite a bit. Going to continue keeping track of this as more top picks trickle in.

FILMBuFF

Re:Zero Mob Psycho 100 Made in Abyss Bungo Stray Dogs As a special mention, I highly recommend reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga, if your channel is open to that kind of content. If not, consider it a personal recommendation to check out in your free time. The anime isn’t really worth watching imo Also, perhaps not what you asked for, but, speaking of things I’d love to see is twitch streaming! You’ve got a few games on your list and I know your schedule is pretty packed, but it would be awesome to have some gaming sessions with the community on twitch with appropriate moderation ofc

Hey Im, haven’t been watching your videos (or most shows or movies actually) this past year or so due irl life stuff. But I’m definitely coming back seeing you’re going to watch Frieren. I’d recommend Haikyuu too, knowing you’re a close supporter of a sports team, I think you’ll be able to enjoy. Not to mention it’s a damn good show. Something I personally like but I’m not sure if it’ll be a big hit for your videos are iyashikei shows. Chill, relaxing but still enjoyable shows. I love Flying Witch and Yuru Camp and recently Food For The Soul, and I think it’d be cool if you could check it out

Muhd Zulhilmi

Land of the Lustrous is great

Ngak

1. Mushoku Tensei 2. Girls' Last Tour 3. Odd Taxi 4. Sonny Boy But a lot of things on the list do sound great. I'll let the folks that know about TV shows to do the voting for that, and watch those when you cover them. Also, this is a bit selfish of me to say but, if you ever go back to doing games, I think I would really enjoy watching you play Outer Wilds. It's really spoilable so take care if you look into it.

1. Legend of the Galactic Heroes 2. Andor 3. Avatar the Last Airbender 4. The Expanse

Drew 1011

1.) Better Call Saul (kino) 2.) Mob Psycho 100 3.) Andor 4.) Arcane season 2 Honestly there is so much more. BCS/Andor would be a good fill for Doctor Who's once a week slot. Even though BCS is my absolute favorite, I wouldn't blame you if Andor went first as it's shorter. While I do want you to watch Berserk (1997), I feel there is some required reading before your start it.

Zach

Also thank you so much for considering Ashita no Joe at all! It's a classic and I hope this can get more people interested in it. Reactions for it are so rare 🥲

Oswin

Let's get in on this! 1. HxH 1999 2. Serial Experiments LAIN 3.Texhnolyze (same director as steins;gate) 4. Sonny Boy (if already on list, do an anime movie, especially the movies by Satoshi Kon)

Helix

My list! 1) Mob Psycho 100 2) JJK Season 2 3) better call Saul 4) psycho pass s1 ** I would ABSOLUTELY watch a breath of the wild play through and after it’s released, I hope you get around to the Chainsaw Man movie

1. Legends of the Galactic Heroes 2. Serial Experiments Lain 3. Fate/Zero 4. Made in Abyss Limited my choices to ones from your existing list, as it's already pretty extensive, and I'm well aware that at a certain point plan-to-watch lists can become unproductively daunting in scale with too many suggestions, although I certainly have some!

A Toilet Duck

I'm gonna go ahead and list the ones I would reccommend plus a bit of insight (spoiler-free, pinky promise) 1. HunterxHunter 1999: duh 2. Delicious in Dungeon: outstanding world-building, very round characters. 3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: unique in its genre. Thrilling. 4. Andor: not a big fan of Star Wars but this show *chef's kiss* 5. Violet Evergarden: beautiful, highly enjoyable. 6. Avatar The last airbender: hood classic, "kids show" but any adult would enjoy. 7. The Haunting of Bly Manor: same creator of The Haunting of Hill House, better in my opinion. 8. Serial Experiments Lain: it's not for everyone, very slow paced and "confusing", but it has very philosophical and thought-provoking themes Bonus: A video reacting to HunterxHunter Openings and Endings :3 You probably already watched them but they're so good and iconic I wouldn't even mind lol , silly video idea

You listed a lot of anime, many of which are great works; but as a viewer, I’d like to offer a bit of advice. Never react to Naruto or any shonen anime with over a hundred episodes. Long-running anime adaptations like these are relics of a bygone era—they're often poorly paced and lack production quality. Of course, their original manga are all great works, and if you're interested in manga, they’re absolutely worth reading. But until these series are remade into modern anime, they’re not worth reacting to—they’ll only waste your time. Side note: Your analysis videos are always very in-depth, which is great and something I really appreciate. However, not every series has the kind of twists and tension that Attack on Titan does. I think it might be better if you occasionally watch multiple episodes in a row and save your analysis for key turning points when the story truly surges in excitement.

Andy Lyu

Lord of mysteries (it needs to become mainstream, such underrated gem) Evangelion Madoka Heavenly delusion

Szymon

Top 4 picks: Fate Zero; Re Zero; Andor; The Expanse (The actual anime I think you'd get the most out of would be Ergo Proxy, but that one has no chance of winning any polls)

Stephan A.

1. Made in Abyss 2.86 - Eighty Six 3. Delicious in Dungeon. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Is there a possiblility for Elden Ring?)

Andy Lyu

1. Orb 2. Andor 3. Re:Zero 4. Violet Evergarden

Cole Barnes

1.Naruto 2.Better Call Saul 3.Mob Psyscho 100 4.Orb

Abdullah

1. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure 2. Legend Of The Galactic Heroes 3. Kaiji 4. Berserk '97

Squidlord

1. Girls' Last Tour (Perhaps with this you could test run a manga reaction, as there are only 6 volumes) 2. Mob Psycho 3. Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor (Forget Squidy Games, this is the real PEAK) 4. Look Back (Beloved Fujimoto)

Azzy Drem

Just going off your list (which has quite a few entries I've seen and love) here are my picks: 1. Fate/Zero and other entries in the series like Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's feel would be awesome to see you pick apart!!! 2. Made in Abyss definitely comes to mind as another one I'd be curious to see your take on. 3. Devilman Crybaby or Heavenly Delusion are insane rides that also make for shorter series to add to the slate. 4. Psycho Pass Season One specifically would likewise be a fantastic experience with you. These aren't necessarily even my favourite anime out there, but rather the shows I'd like to see you react to most right now. Good luck with whatever is after Frieren and Severance!!!

Balurion

1) Legend of the galactic herores: I know is almost impossible for it to win a poll, but i think the discussions would be great. 2)Orb: On the movments of the earth: Instant modern classic, Vinland Saga level of greatness. 3) Look Back: Fujimoto at it's best. Plus it can be done in between series since it's a short movie. 4) Heveanly Delusion: Anime made for your style, the only bad thing is that there has been no announcement for season 2. Also Monogatari, Psycho Pass (just season 1), 86, Made in Abyss would be great reactions/discussions.

Madani

I'll second FLCL. Amazing and short.

Ryan

Fate/Zero Naruto Made in Abyss Devilman Crybaby

Hassan

(not a part of the four but doing steins gate 0 would be nice) 1. Arcane S2 (extremely well crafted) 2. Look Back (im sure youre familiar with the author, he doesnt miss with this one, and its short) 3. The Promised Neverland S1 (Very good and only 12ish eps) 4. Haikyu!! (doesnt really fit with anything else done on the channel, more of a feel-good show. absolutely excels in that department though) also did you at any point record reactions to each hxh opening? itd be nice to see that keep up the cool work man! 5. the dream would be a blue lock manga readthrough bc i know youre into football, but im not sure thats a possibility. would at least like to hear ur thoughts on it if you ever watch/read it on your own

Better Call Saul, Berserk 1997, Takopi's Original Sin, Made in Abyss

1. Mob Psycho 100 2. FLCL 3. Cowboy Bebop 4. Space Dandy FLCL is an all time fav, and only 6 episodes so not a huge commitments, Space Dandy is kinda complementary to Cowboy Bebop, same creator and concept but a different tone, would be great after Bebop

Would love for you to check any of these out. 1) Orb: On the movements of Earth 2) Look Back (By Tatsuki Fujimoto, its his own real life story, dramatized) 3) Mob Psycho 4) And the game; Clair Obscur Expedition 33 My personal all timers would though 1) Attack on Titan 2) Vinland Saga 3) Orb: On the movements of Earth 4) And the game; Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Mob Psycho, Re:Zero, Madoka Magica (incredible anime that’s actually really quick too), and Code Geass. Feel like they would all scratch a certain itch for you, especially Code Geass. I realize a couple of these aren’t on your list so as for two others on your list, Yu Yu Hakusho and Violet Evergarden.
