Full Length - Doctor Who | "World Enough and Time"

Doctor Who at its finest!

For me, it was one of the all time great episodes of the show. Just had everything I've come to love about the show.

Recording the final Capaldi episode in a couple of days 🥲

I can't wait for the discussion on this one. The clever and interesting setting, the horrifying build up in the hospital, poor Bill's fate and of course it being such a perfect time in Missy's story to bring her literally face to face with her past. I love what they did with the classic design of the Cybermen too. As you said, an absolute all timer.

Been waiting for this finale for so long, can't wait to get into this (and the next when that comes)!!

So, a bit of show lore for you here but the Mondasian Cybermen were the first ever Cybermen to appear in the show back in 1966. They originated from Earth’s twin planet Mondas, which Missy mentioned here. That story also doubled as the first regeneration story with the First Doctor regenerating. But anyway, the design of these Cybermen is obviously very “primitive” and “low-budget” due to the technology of the time back in the 60s, but Moffat found a perfect way to tie the design into the actual canon here by showing that they are actually earlier, more patchwork Cyberman evolutions that are a reflection of the medical body horror surrounding the conversion process in its early stages. It’s an ingenious way to make a cloth face mask suddenly be scary by hinting that it’s more of a mutilated face under there and the cybermen are more like wounded patients. Peter Capaldi was a fan of these Cybermen as a child so he asked for them to be included before he finished his time as the Doctor and what a story this is!

i was so impressed they were able to squeeze in an all-timer episode right at the end of capaldi's run

I adore this episode the body horror element of the cybermen is amazing and an obligatory gush about Missy ... and the Master also, a lot of this stuff is from Classic Who which I will probably explain more in the next episode's comments
