[CGMZ] Footsteps

! SEE BOTTOM OF POST FOR UPDATES !

Hi all, introducing: [CGMZ] Footsteps!

This plugin will give you the option to play a footstep sound when the player walks on certain tiles. You can set up footstep sounds by either region id or terrain tag, then when the player walks on a tile with either the region id or the terrain tag they will hear a footstep sound.

Footstep sounds themselves can have a variance applied to their volume, pitch, and pan settings so the sound never sounds quite the same. You can also add a variable wait time between each footstep sound, so if your player is dashing they are not flooded with sound effects while moving across a footstep sound area.

You can also disable or enable footstep sounds via a plugin command. If you want the footsteps to stop completely for a certain spot in your game, it is an easy disable plugin command to do so.

Below is a short video example to get an idea of how footsteps can work:

Please note that this plugin is still in Alpha and has quite a few planned features that will be added in future updates that were not quite ready for the initial Alpha launch. These include:

Happy RPG Making!

This update adds the option to choose between multiple random sound files when choosing a footstep sound to play. This should allow you to give even more variance between sounds, in addition to the variance you can apply to volume, pitch, and pan settings.

This update also added the option to use a step-based delay instead of a time-based footstep delay (or both). What this means is that you can now require the player take 2 steps before another footstep sound plays, regardless of how long between steps they waited.

IMPORTANT: Due to the sound file parameter changing from a singular file to multiple files which can choose one file randomly out of the list, you will need to set this parameter up again when updating even if you only intend to use one sound file for your footsteps.
