It is too late because Rhaenys let the hightowers alive. It is too late because Rhaenyra stopped Daemon from acting and pretty much winning the war on day one. It is too late because Rhaenyra is trying too hard not to use her best weapon: the dragons. Those are the things that could avoid the situation escalating to this level. I’m on team black but the greens are being allowed to move as they want because Rhaenyra is hesitating. Literally holding back her best weapon and her best knight.

Maybe if rhaenyra tried this before saying “I want aemond” and before the kings son was murdered, but even at that time it was already too late. Aegon is already crowned. And the thing is that even if Alicent did not misunderstood viserys, Otto had already planned everything to crown Aegon, she would not be able to change this. Rhaenyra doesn’t understand that it is too late and keeps waiting and waiting trying to avoid war but that is coming back for her. They would for sure win against the greens at that moment, even with Vaegar. But everyone tries to nerf and hold Daemon, tries to avoid using dragons, everyone keep waiting for a miracle peacetreaty and as daemon said, this time, trying to avoid spilling blood will cut them shortly from greatness. Now, Daemon got his death sentence.
