Just to make clear Wales is Askellad’s homeland and where his mother is from. Back in episode 13 when they go through Wales Askellad talked about how he never wanted his land to be rampaged by the Danes and that he hates the Danes.

From his mother’s stories all the way to bringing Canute to wales and propping him up. That’s why he was so shocked when he mentioned wales because they plan to destroy everything he cares about.

2024-03-28 16:21:39 +0000 UTCThe point is to dislike Thorfinn since he is still just a kid with a lot of anger and depression. Characters such as Canute and Askeladd are far more interesting right now. Thorfinn is controlled by his emotions and that is exactly why Askeladd is kind of "disappointed". 10 years gone and he still gets rattled by his emotions and loses focus. His only purpose in life is to avenge his father. And you are right that it's a lot like AOT because in my honest opinion Vinland Saga is probably the only one that is head to head with AOT in terms of story telling, visuals and of course the amazing soundtrack. Yutaka Yamada (composer) is a genius and I seriously cannot wait for you guys to react to the finale and catch up with season 2. It only gets better from here. Yes that place really exist and is suppose to be Newfoundland in Canada. That is the place that the real explorer Leif Erikson who is thought to have been the first European to set foot on continental America. I must rely on a sword like this, because I am not yet a master. A true warrior doesn't need a sword. -Thors Snorresson
