Such an strong and emotional episode, really shows what wars can do to the innocent and not everyone that wants to participate. Love the ending with the broken comb and how Thorfinn was reminiscing about his family.. This show really knows how to play with ur emotions.

2024-02-02 01:49:10 +0000 UTCRewatching this series with you guys made me realize this was a moment where Thorfinn could’ve just been a normal kid. But the animation/direction of him taking that deep breath, poor kid has matured so soon so fast. Askelad is one of the best characters ever.

It is tragic but realistic, Thorfin has only one purpose in his heart, to honourably kill the man who killed his father in a fair duel, he can't even see anything else but achieving that. You could see that he formed some connection with them, enough that he didn't want them to die, but not enough to spare the village and let askelad sail away. That last moment where Thorfins expression changed was like him acknowledging that he caused her death, burying that pain deep within and becoming more emotionally dead. Running off to join the slaughter because that is all that he is now, doubling down on vengeance at any cost. Beautiful and horrifying, just like the real world 😊
