2024-01-28 01:18:04 +0000 UTCI study Italian Sign language at university, the way deaf kids learn to sign is very similar to how hearing people learn to speak. They go through babbling as we do, but they do it with their hands and they learn quicker because our brain finds it easier to remember movement than to articulate words. Also the second teacher that the girl had (the abusive one) was trying to teach her how to speak and not how to sign. In the deaf community people have two different perspectives: people that want deaf kids to stop signing, start reading lips and speaking to pass as hearing people (they focus on the hering loss) and the other part that pushes children to be proud, to learn sign language and to demand respectfor their condition (they focus on deaf gain)
