2023-08-31 00:21:03 +0000 UTCSounds similar to if someone was trying go break a lease for an apt in the US. Like there is a fee you would have to pay if you choose to leave before your lease is up. And also would have to pay for all the damages (they claim) was done to the apt. And then the deposit you have to pay before moving in would be lost as well. And then on top of that, if you plan on moving into another apt, they more than likely would do background checks by asking your previous apt owner how you were as a tenant, a credit score check, criminal background check, your employment status and then if you’re cleared for all those things, they would ask for a deposit to pay for the apt as well. So pretty much it’s easier to just stay, especially if you can’t afford to move anywhere else.

You guys don't understand that in some places, like in Asian countries, when you live in the provinces and not the capital, you have to spend a lot of money to leave. Like some people have to sell houses and businesses to send their kids to the city, which in this case is Seoul. So he doesn't have a lot of money and no option to leave or go back home to his parents. Plus he can't be a failure, since it would make him look bad in front of his girlfriend and his boss. He's just sucking it up, like so many of us who are in less than appropriate situations. He does have a plan in place but one thing is for certain, he didn't take into consideration how insane the people in the boarding house are.

It always starts with "You look good" or " you look a bit depressed, are you going through some tough situations? let's have a talk" and they eventually ask for money for their ritual to get away your depressed situation. It's just like begging but different way.
