I agree with Jeff, their death seemed so rushed that it was impossible to grieve... But I also think that they did that, so we could see how the government felt about the kids they send on the field, in their eyes the kid's life were meaningless. This also reflects the reality in Korea, or in France (where I live) where the government does not give a fuck about the students struggles, the anxiety and student's precarity... Btw a lot of this distopian Kdrama were inspired by the Sewol Fery Tragedy, during which hundred of students died, which felt really unfair even now... (You guys should look into it) Anyway, Rumor has it that there is a part 3 so I hope this was all a nightmare 😭 Ps: GREAT REVIEW (as always)

Man I knew since episode 6 the perve guy had to go!!! And he always gave me school shooter vibes. I was just waiting to see when and how it would happen. I never trusted him with that gun. I understand the message. This is realistic guys unfortunatly this is how it is. Humans can be eachothers worst enemies. This is what happens when kids get bullied. They wanted to show something realistic. Not everything has a happy ending, and I can respect that...But I don't think I'm ever watching this drama again lol. Mainly Because we really didn't have any time to Mourn the deaths. I'm not saying change the story line, but I would have prefered if he killed them one by one or couple by couple at least. But then again mass shooters don't take their time killing. The goal is to kill everyone as quick as possible, until it's over... The last episode truly happened often in the States in real life esp the shot where Kim Chi stood in the middle of the classroom and showed the whole room of the aftermath. The ending is just too close to reality to be a science fiction drama.

This episode was just PAIN. I have rewatched this show episode three times now with other reactors but I cry every time. I didn't realize until season 1 ep six when the platoon leader died how attached I was to these characters. Like this episode seriously messed me up for a couple of days. I always knew "Pervert" was sus and I also couldn't stand everytime they showed him on the screen haha. Even though I also hated the ending honestly it was kind of realistic. There are school shootings and senseless murders happening all the time in the States. You honestly never know what's going on in people's heads or when they could snap! To me the writers showed the reality that we live in, sometimes people are scarier and can get to the point of doing something absolutely sickening like this. Ooh child I need to calm down. I only rewatched this show to watch with you guys but I'm not watching it ever again lol I'm scarred FOR LIFE, THANKS WRITERS!!!

The actor who played the pervert did an amazing job! I really believed he was that mentally unstable and tbh his character was probably one of the most realistic ones in the show. People who end up doing such unspeakable things don't normally need a big reason why. The school exam was the only thing that gave him hope and when he no longer had that hope, the war PTSD and hallucinations kicked in and he wasn't able to cope. It didn't help that he was bullied, came from poverty, exhibited incel behaviour and had wrapped his whole personality around education. All of that was always a recipe for disaster.

So i agree about the ending. I wished they would’ve given them a different one. One where most of them atleast survived. But nearly all but 4 surviving was ridiculous. And i see the message they were trying put out there, that humans are worse than even these crazy killing aliens. That humans are more terrifying than these crazy, unpredictable, killing aliens. And i will add, i want to commend the actor who took on the role of the pervert nerd. Because i’m sure he knew that once he took on the role and did his job phenomenally as the actual villain, one to be the most hated, he will get alot of people just get angry at the sight of his face. But i want to say he did phenomenal in this role along with all the actors and actresses that took part in the show. Now if you really want to see a great show, taxi driver would be a great one to see. Because it’s basically a revenge plot type show with a bunch of twists. It will send you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. But it’s is one of the best shows i’ve seen by far. And to give you an idea of how great it is, the producer for the show just announce a couple weeks ago that they will be doing a season 3. Which is not very common in the kdrama world.

And every time the pervert appeared on screen I was also like “ugh move! Stop showing him 😒” we had the same reaction there 😂 yeah it’s not surprising at all that he snapped, I don’t forgive his character and he’s a POS loser for that but I mostly blame the adults that manipulated these students by using the CSAT. He and the rest of them should not have been put in this situation in the first place. Also at one point in the earlier episodes our main glasses guy (Kimchi) also said “why did the adults give us guns?” And in the end credits rap they did at the end the lyrics are important: “Why do we need to do what adults can’t even do?” The adults really failed these kids and treated them as expendable. Anyway someone was bound to snap and it sucks it had to be someone in this group but that’s how it is in life. There will often be that one person that ruins it for everyone. Clearly forcing people into a situation they don’t want to be in will most likely not result in a happy ending and it was just wrong to force kids to do what the adults should have been doing. It was just easier for them to force the kids instead of adults. There’s definitely a lot of messages here. Also life is random, you can be saved by someone one day and then die the next day at the hands of someone else. Life is not a movie, just because the platoon leader sacrificed himself doesn’t mean that they’d all survive in the end. That would be too predictable. (I’m sad they didn’t survive but the writing still makes sense realistically) Btw I recommend these because you’ll probably like these: Flower of Evil, Descendants of the Sun, Two Worlds (W), Twenty-Five Twenty-One (as a more lighthearted one) and there’s so many more that I know you’ll like~ the list is endless but I’ll stop typing now lol

Been watching Kdrama/Kmovies since 2006, Kdramas/Kmovies are good at portraying real life. A lot of the time they don’t care about what type of ending you want, in real life people you love can die instantly just like that. They portrayed this very well and it hits home harder. It’s more shocking this way and shows how instant and without warning death can be. If they had died “bit by bit” it wouldn’t have the same impact and will be quite cliché and not true to real life. It’s not about respecting or not respecting the characters. It’s to portray how precarious and reckless it was to give kids guns and force them to fight in a war. Both of you made good points (easily my fave reactors tho I don’t always agree with your opinions) but I get why they ended it that way. It was a seemingly ridiculous ending because the whole situation itself was ridiculous. Like you guys said, the aliens weren’t even the focus anymore because all along it wasn’t just the aliens that were the enemy, it was the corrupt higher ups etc. Anyway I also teared up when everyone died, overall the cast did very well getting us to love them all and the acting was on point as always.

The writers definitely put importance on shock value more than character development. The story didn’t need to make yeongsu another villain cause the spheres and the “adults” who made them go to war are already enough as villains. Even the prison storyline was unnecessary imo, they could’ve expounded more on how the adults abandoned these kids and basically threw their whole future away. These kids are a whole working generation being sacrificed. Moreover, Yeongsu’s storyline was a good opportunity for him to develop positively as a character- they could’ve made him bond with the other kids and make him realize that there’s so much more than these tests. I understand his backstory, it’s just a missed opportunity and tragic writing for the sake of shock value. Also, let’s not forget that him killing everyone totally erased platoon leader’s sacrifice during episode 6. I’m also disappointed that we didn’t see the 3 other survivors at the end and only Kim Chi (Yeol). The ending and the main plot of the series were totally glossed over. This was still a fun series to watch up until the episodes 7-10 and no, the “alternate endings” or “extra scenes” did not help with the trauma of watching kids get shot by their own classmate/friend 😅

If even one person had empathized with the pervert, this wouldn't have happened. At least pretending to empathize! Everyone reacted by isolating the pervert, saying things like, 'What's wrong with you?' and 'Who the hell cares the exam at this point?' The pervert would have felt he's the one who crazy and gradually started distancing himself from their friends, saying, 'You're different from me,' 'You guys must have a second chance, but I dont. ' The pervert had difficulties in interpersonal situations, and went through such a hard times because of that, the only thing that kept him going was the 'exam.' For the pervert, the exam was not just an exam; it probably was his only hope . So, if even one person had said, 'Yeah, the exam couldn't have been canceled. Something must have gone wrong,' understanding the pervert and keeping his hope alive, maybe the pervert could have relieved and played with his friends at the amusement park. However, the pervert remains isolated, couldn't see him during any moments of joy in the amusement park. Whenever his friends see the pervert, they just look at him as if he's crazy. I kind of understand why the pervert became so extreme in this context. And suddenly, he went from being an ordinary student to a murderer! he was still a young student. It's not completely incomprehensible why everything escalated so dramatically for him. Of course, the pervert committed an irreversible act. But I think it wasn't an entirely unreasonable development.

If y’all decide to watch a new kdrama, i would suggest Revenge of Others on hulu because it has Park Yeon-jin younger actress as the main character but this time she’s a good person. This show was a over all 10/10 for me. It also has revenge in it hence the name but i do hope y’all do end up watching it

When Jeff said I would have wrote a letter! 🤣 but on a serious note that shooting was so intense it gave me chills to see what all these real mass school shootings that take place would be like. I can't imagine the horror of the kids...it was crazy how the whole meaning and importance of the prior episodes were reduced to nothing in that 2 minute scene.

ik u guys have alot of shows recommended to you all the time but i just watched the drama D.P. and i wasnt sure if anyone has recommended it before so i thought i would! its really short, only 6 episodes (tho there is a second season coming out some time this year) and it sheds light on the issues with the korean mandatory military system like the corruption and bullying that goes on in it. the casting for that show is so good and there is soooo many actors in it that you guys know as well! its a really quick watch but i think its really good and interesting

i feel like that's the issue. none of this would have happened if it wasn't for humans. If humans had approached the spheres in a non-selfish way and exploited the students, this would be a whole different scenario. If humans came together harmoniously to beat the spheres, many deaths would have been avoided. Instead, there was a lack of information, secrets, lying and deceit to get the students to kill the spheres with no sufficient training or psychiatric consultation. SO i feel like it still goes back to humans are trash.

even the end credits could not distract me. The end credits made me even angrier coz it was like this is just reminding me that we r not going to have this again. After the show I wrote a long ass review of how traumatic that ending was and the director was wrong for that but for the fact that we had such a STRONG feeling towards this ending, the director did a fantastic job a brilliant job even with this show and I appreciate that.

I really felt that these were my kids when I watched this show, too. That ending gutted me so much but I really appreciated how well it was all pulled off. They really glued those kids to our hearts before brutally ripping them back off. Very well done playing with our emotions. I didn't really get this my first watch, but watching with you guys made me realize that yeah, that ending must mean there's a deeper message they want to convey, and my takeaway now is that this is a metaphor on the pressures on kids (and young people these days). In the first part, when they were talking with Ajussi and the Lieutenant, Ajussi said something about everyday life being like a war, too. We're all going through this war that is life, trying to survive, make ends meet, or even thrive, but it all affects us differently according to our personalities and backgrounds. Some, like class prez, learn to make the hard decisions and lead. Meanwhile, I think pervert snapped not because of the bullying (tho this was a factor, too) - he snapped because the pressure on him was too high. He was suffering from poverty and he just wanted to raise himself and his family out of it. He wanted to get into a good school and get a good job, because that's what SK's society teaches them. Even in the beginning we saw his ambition when his mom didn't want him to sign up because she wanted him to watch his siblings. He believed that if he did that, he wouldn't be able to get the necessary points for him to achieve his goals. His hallucinations and line of thinking at the end was consistent with this, too. He was worried his reputation would be ruined if he was (first) labeled as a sexual offender then (secondly) as a murderer. Things just went downhill and completely.snowballed from there. I absolutely hate that it happened, but I don't think it's contrived or anything. We just weren't expecting it, because we were focused on the enemy only being the spheres. Anyway super long comment sorry. But thank you for the reaction! My recommendation for next series is Mr. Queen!

The way this show singlehandedly killed all my hopes and dreams. I always say kdramas dgaf about the audience's feelings, and this is a prime example. They killed off everyone we liked and couldn't even show all of the survivors, like did glasses and Na-ra get together?

I haven't read the webtoon but I read on twitter that the ending was a bit different. Like the storyline is the same, but there were 13 survivors instead of only 4. Also platoon leader survived to the explosion and Ms.Park didn't die cause she never went out with the kids. So I don't understand why the decided to just kill EVERYONE in the drama and give us trauma 😭 But still I really liked the drama and the ending didn't made it worse for me. I mean, I hate what happened but don't hate drama. Another fun fact, Bora (main bully) and AeSol (weak hero) are half sisters in the webtoon. That fact gives a lot more of meaning to their relationship and why was like that.

i really disliked the ending everyone deserved better. i wish everyone got a happy ending except for the pervert because just thinking about him makes me mad. i read somewhere that the point of the story was “no matter what we are at war with (the spheres) nothing is a scary as human kind” hence episode 9 when the prisoner said “we as human are truly trash”. anyways thank y’all for the reaction!! 🤍
