IKALGOATTT!! Really like the Genthru comparison you made for Gon and this scary little moment we see of Gon in this episode! Killua is making a friend... The growth from my boy :)
The ortho siblings portion and the overexplaining is pretty boring, you can see as well that Togashi didn't really put much time in creating some of those lower level ants.

Someone may have mentioned this before but the anime has a lot of extra narration compared to the manga.
I think authors knows this, but something like this usually happens to be the most elegant way to 'take the hit'
In the end it's either something akward like this, or messing too much with the pacing which would hurt the story more in the long run

Meleoron and Ikalgo are interesting in this episode. Meleoron see the dark side of Gon, while Ikalgo see kindness in Killua

I totally agree with you. If Mito San hadn't raised Gon, or if Gon had been raised for exemple by the Phantom Troupe, Gon would have probably been a monster.

We do know in the world of HunterxHunter that there are many cases when it comes to nen abilities. Where these abilities become stronger if you put a restriction on it like having to explain the ability it becomes stronger. So technicly the show explains why someone would reveal there abilitie. I kind of love that. It also especially makes a lot of sence for dart nen power. It is a game. So it makes kind of sence that they have to explain to make it stronger.

Thanks for the analysis Im! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the side characters this episode. Does anyone else feel that Gon is a little like Shalnark? albeit a less intelligent version, and Gon is slightly less sociopathic; But the way they both can have an honest to God charming, kind, smile on their face while they are talking about something like killing/death is very similar to me.

I wanted to wait til this episode to say it but Ikalgo is definitely one of my top favorite ants. Everyone time I watch this scene I have the same reaction as you when the camera pans up to his face as he approaches a dying Killua. His face just looks so innocent and amusing at the same time.

Yeah not gonna lie as much as i love this arc, I do wish the "henchman" ants had more natural dialogue. I think its a minor issue this anime has from time to time, but its most noticeable in these encounters where ants are needlessly (and idiotically) explaining their abilities with no natural reason contextually inside of the dialogue sequence. It can come across quite cartoonish in my opinion, which I suppose is sort of the point given the intended audience, but the approach is just not my cup of tea.
